    Hiya

One of the companies involved in my wedding, are suppliers on this website.

I have has absolutley awful service from them.. And have spoken to a few other people I know who have had the same.

I understand that they pay to advertise on here, but I truely don't think the ladies on here deserve to have their wedding dulled by these people.

I don't know how it would stand, but I really am upset by the way they have been treating me and I don't think its fair they are advertising to 1000's of potential customers to ruin their experience too.

    What can I do?

Basically communication before the wedding was pretty bad, but we won them via a wedding competition so we didn't think of looking elsewhere.

On the day, he didn't sort any of the photo's himself.. I had to literally stand there shouting for people to get into groups. He was telling me I had to sort it all out. Then I asked for certain photo's and he laughed at me and said 'well if you want cheesy tacky photo's like that!?'... I was like, its my wedding and those are the photos I want :( And he laughed at me over them!

Best bit is now we're married, we got married over a month ago and only just got the link to the photo's on Saturday. They look blurry as anything on the website so I'm just hoping that's because they're not in high res online.. but some are clearly blurry and won't be fixed by being in high res. Some are wonky, and most of them look no better, if not worse, than the ones my friend took on the day.

I have heard that someone I know's Dad is a wedding photographer, and he has worked with said photographer and has heard nothing but bad things about him. He's known for not liking doing weddings, and is known for taking photo's of 'things' rather than people.

And now is the cherry on the top. I emailed back on Saturday, and then Sunday, Monday and last night. No response. I've also called the shop and spoke to the same guy for the past 3 nights. He told me he passed the message on and was fobbing me off saying stuff like 'its not my problem, i'm not dealing with it' 'we're busy, im on the phone to you right now and can't email someone now' etc. I could understand if it was one email I sent this morning. But this has gone on since Saturday!

Another girl I know had him as her photographer and says he's been exactly the same as her has with me, and she paid a lot of money for him! He pissed about putting a comic in place of the book in the ceremony photo's, when he could have been editing proper ones. The only was that she got anything sorted was to go in. She had a photobook in with the price and he sent her a proof of it. She said her 5 year old cousin could have done a better job. There was even the same photo on one page twice!

Oh not very many of mine are edited at all, not enough that it takes over a month to get them online to me.

The guy on the phone had the cheek to tell me I needed to get in touch with the guy!?!? WTF does he think I've been doing all week!?

I'm going to go insane if I go in on Saturday and I haven't had a responce...

    xx

yeah I won't name and shame until I have my actual photo's on a disc with me.

I told him 'i'm not being funny but these are my wedding photos! i'l bring a bloody disc to you myself!'

The guy involved has already gone back on himself saying I get 50 prints, when he told me when I won that I would get the photography on the day, a photobook, and disc with photos on.

    Really upset and angry.

Whether it's free or not, this is no way to treat someone during their wedding-especially where the photos are concerned. As you say, these are your wedding photos-the one lasting memory you both have of the day!

Everyone else I spoke to said that too Clive. If I knew this would have happened, I would have gone elsewhere and just paid for them! We saved enough money with everything else we won, but I assumed that as they were donating it and they took a big part of the whole competition, that they would be decent.

Thanks guys and girls, I will email him on Saturday night after I have my photo's on disc. I wouldn't put it past them to delete them all if anything gets said before then.

I might even mention this forum to them on Saturday and say i'm ready to name and shame to almost 300,000 brides if they don't give me what they promiced.

Well, I've actually seen your wedding photos luvvie, and I've also seen the guy's website. The photos themselves are, I'm afraid, atrocious. they've not been framed properly, during the speeches, he seems to have an allergy to close ups. He hasn't captured the emotion of your day. One shot, where you are cutting the cake, he takes a shot while you are walking away, with your backs to the camera, guests not sat down and he still snaps away-....the list is endless.

I see your hubby is in the way when he's taking a shot of you just outside the church! He really should have sorted this beforehand.

His website says it all. Click on the gallery; nothing there. Same with the testimonials; Nothing there. Hardly a way to run a successful business is it?;-( The surmise of it all is in my opinion, he is trying to be someone he isn't-and he certainly isn't any wedding photographer.

The bad bit is, you look absolutely beautiful, and he hasn't done you justice at all;-(

Thank you Clive. I really appreciate that. I'm really upset at the fact that my friend got better shots of him, not amazing ones but better. Luckily a friend filmed it, so we have video, but it doesn't take away from the fact we don't have many decent photo's :(

Thank you legobride, yes he's on here as a legit photography supplier, and I think was offering the free engagement shoot, whereas they actually offer couples shoots for free anyway!

I'm going to kick up a fuss in the shop on Saturday and hopefully deter some people from booking with them.

I was almost in tears looking through the photo's to be honest... I was fuming. My cousin in Australia got married 2 weeks before me, and his photo's are beautiful :(

    I'm actually going through them now as we speak. There are some there that he has absolutely nailed to perfection. The close-ups od the individual flowers- absolutely wonderful-perfect. But it stops there to be honest. Another example is your dress. Two things;
1/why didn't he suggest hanging it up in the window to get the light reflecting through?
2/Why on earth did he take a side-on shot? It doesn't show off the full potential that your dress had.

There's another of one of your junior bridesmaids holding her cage bouquet. he only went and got her in as del as the bouquet, which should have been a close up of that ONLY.

That, and his depth of field on virtually all of the images is non-existent.

Like I said, you looked absolutely lovely. You deserve photos to reflect that. xx

Again, thank you for the compliment Clive. Yeah, he has got the flowers spot on, but thats it.

He just suggested I didn't have it on a 'busy' wall, but he did keep moving it around, not once in the window. and i don't know. :(

I've just sent a really angry email. I have sent 5 emails since Saturday and called every night this week, and he has ignored me. I am going into the shop on Saturday, I'm so angry right now I could cry :(

    Oh bless you!

OK, look, we've established that they are not what you would expect from a professional wedding photographer, and the bigger picture is, he is vilifying UKBride in the process.

As the next step, I would get trading standards involved, and arguably, the CAB. Tell them the whole sorry story, be advised by them as to what your next move will be. If that fails, I will put a link on your wall of our wedding photographer. As you can probably tell, I am very, very fussy about our photos when they are done, and as a result, would not settle for second best. Our photographer is just simply amazing, and I won't hear a bad word said.

Again, explain the whole saga to her (she is absolutely lovely), and I'm sure she will help you, but your in yorkshire, and she/we are in north dorset on the south west coast, so travel may be an issue, but that said, she is doing a wedding in edinburgh either this year or next.

I think its a waste that you have 5 shots of the same thing again and again, you dont need all of them, just chose and edit the best ones. It looks a bit like its quantity over quality. I couldnt believe there were almost 150 photos before you even got to the ceremony :s
Having a look at their website they arent exactly that cheap either
I'm really sorry you are so disappointed, there are some good photos there so try not too be too disheartened

Exactly!!! The wedding dress shots! Why?

The fact that there's so many prior to the ceremony isn't as issue really, as long as the quality is there, which these clearly are not.

The upshot is you didn't pay for them so financially you are not at a loss, but that is totally irrelevant.

I've just put details of our photographer on your wall luvvie xx

Theres no point me going to trading standards though as we haven't lost out on money as it was the prize.

I will most certainly be emailing J or IT Man about it once I have the photo's in my posession.

Thank you again Clive for the advice :)

They're not cheap Nic, and I feel sorry for the girl from work who paid £600 for hers and she's had just as much trouble communicating but admits that hers aren't as bad as mine.

Thing is Nic, I shouldn't have to pick the decent ones, and if that was me, I wouldn't be putting the awful ones on there (he took way more with the campers so he's weeded some out..) I should be able to chose my favourite out of the best :(

thank you though, there are very very few... I only like one :(

No, perhaps not, but there's only two ways that your wedding photographer could have been paid

    1/UKBride paid for it.
2/ Your photographer underwrote the fee himself.

If it is the latter, then he has taken money and not delivered.

Either way, you have received goods not up to standard.

I agree Mrs Shaw, he should have thinned them down and left you with the best ones - was he obliged to give you a certain number of images?

I just know because we didn't pay anything we don't have anything to stand on really. He could easily just delete the images and pretend I didn't exsist as I won't be on the books or anything. I think I'll take a screenshot of the website now just in case actually...

Please, DO NOT TOUCH THEM! If you edit them in any way, he can just turn around and say "not our problem. you put them into photoshop and altered the original images". Added to the fact that you would potentially be doing his job anyway.

A good photographer will do his/her absolute best to ensure that he/she gets the original photos as near to perfection on camera to ensure minimal post-production anyway.

MrsShaw, I'm so sorry you're not happy with your photos hun.

Looking through there are some really good ones which literally could benefit from a slight colour balance however, those dress shots are really bad and the fact that he's taken so many shots from below... Seriously it's the most unflattering angle you can shoot from, what the hell was he thinking. I literally sat down with one of those photos on iPhoto and had a play and I managed a better result than he has and I'm sure someone else could do even better. They are not beyond saving.

I'm no professional photographer, but I have worked with a lot of people who are and I will have a look and see if I can find someone who would do a cherish the dress shoot with you, if you're up for it. To be honest, I'd do it myself if you'd have me - like I said I'm no pro but with 7 years camera experience I'm not completely terrible and you and your dress deserve to look as beautiful as you feel. x

Hun I would contact him again and advise him exactly who you are going to contact to make it public about his work. I would also use fb. The likely reason he offered his services as a competition prize is to generate good publicity. However, it will have the opposite effect if you create bad publicity o we this. Give him a deadline of when you want a response too. Word of mouth could ruin his business which may just give him the kick up the proverbial he needs to sort this out. You get married once you can't recreate this moments xx

    Two very good posts here.

To elaborate on this slightly, On his website, he advertises the fact that he does fashion shoots, couples shoots, parent and child shoots...in fact, everything but wedding photography. Point this out to him, and ask why he offered his services for a competition prize, whilst pointing out that he has no gallery, nor does he have any testimonials.

Plus, nearly 500 photos in under five hours? That shows he rushed it, assuming of course it was just him with you.
