So i think me and H2B have been watchin far too much "Don't tell the Bride". He thinks its a great idea that we should get a horse & carriage for me, my dad, bridesmaid & flowergirl to arrive in. I like the idea of it but I'm not 100% sold on the idea.

    Is anyone else having one?

I don't want one of those pumpkin things that Jordan had - we were thinking more Wills & Kate.

i was going to have one as i love horses but my venue is at the top of a hill and it would be unfair on the horses to pull a carrige up the hill :(

We didn't have one. I think some of them look a bit too gypsy wedding - but I suppose there are some nice ones out there - it's personal taste.

I really wanted one as it would have been perfect for my theme. What has put me off is if the weather isnt good it wont be great and it will take so long to get from the ceremony to the reception venue.

it depends what you get. If its really nice and tastefully done then yes. We were thinking of a white horse but an old fashioned carriage (not jordon or gypsey) but we changed our minds in the end. We were worried about horsey poo!

My hubby to be knows that i would not get married unless there was a horse and carriage and our local church its kinda of a standing Joke we met 17 years ago and in the first year of our relationship we had the wedding discussion and i told him out right that i wanted a horse and carriage and the church. Yes it can be expensive but its what i have always dreamed of !! I have a carriage booked that is white and enclosed classey not pumpkinfied !! so even if it is raining it wouldn't effect us, but the open carriages also close up all though i'm not to sure if you would be able to see out of the sides you would have to ask.

The carriage now is not just for me but for our daughter who is 4 years old and giving me away (parents no longer with us)she is in the disney princess stage and she is so excited to be going in a horse drawn carriage in her special dresss.

Our company is picking up bridesmaides taking them to church coming back for me and daughter this is because church is only a mile from house the ceremony venue is 7 miles so only doing the one trip to venue for H2B and me which we have been told will take about 30 minuets which will give us time to be by ourselves and take it all in before all the partying starts. we have 2 horses pulling the carriage at a cost of £700 but that because i wanted specific horses pulling the carriage which was an added £50 they will also wait until you have all your photos taken before they load the horses up so all guests can come and give them a pat.

I would call around diffrent companies and see if they can do the distances that you need to travel first and then if they can and if its within your price range ask to look at there carriages to see if they have one you like then make your decission

Friends of ours own a carriage and they provide a wedding service. Their carriage is gorgeous - and comfortable! - and it and the horse always look amazing when they do weddings. I think it's probably worth looking into so you can find out if there are styles you like?

I'm having one, it's one of the fairy tale things that I have to do :).

They're all around £600 for that though, but you get 2 journeys for that. As our ceremony & reception is in the same place me & h2b will be going off alone for a while straight after the ceremony. They also wait around so you can have the pictures you want with the horses.

Also if you have a large distance to cover then it's possible to get a car to a certain point & be picked up on the way xx

Lol, no, we're having two cars. Not sure horse and carriage is a good idea when the Church and venue are 20 miles from where we live and will be travelling from but I think if it's local it could be so romantic :D

I think a lot of people get a car and have the horse waiting nearby to the venue and swap over.
