Depends on your venue tbh. I've been waitressing a long time and my mum is a hotel manager so she deals with a lot of weddings too so she keeps me right. Be aware of any hidden costs,if you book for say 100 people and 90 turn up-some places can charge you on your original numbers if you dont confirm final numbers in advance! In many hotels Ive worked in,the photographer and videomen also got fed a dinner, usually without the bride and groom knowing, regardless if you are aware or not the hotel will charge you for these meals!! Also some venues here in northern Ireland charge room hire-luckily my numbers meant I avoided this! There's also corkage on wine-it might be cheaper to bring in your own and pay corkage on it rather than use the hotels. Many hotels offer packages, make sure they are clear on what they suggest, like the evening buffet or any other extras like candy buffets, chocolate fountain, fairy light back ground, chair covers, centre pieces etc etc, always price these individually to see if the offers they provide really are that good! Also table favours may be tricky,I wanted to give small miniature alcohol favours but the hotel won't allow it! Always try to bargain on the prices or get that wee bit extra included in the price! See if they do a food tasting session so you can always taste and decide on your menu in advance as well!! Hope this provides some kind of help! Your wedding co-ordinater should keep you right, just don't forget they are trying to sell the business to you though so always ask questions if your unsure, especially on price and packages offered!!

There should be a wedding co-ordinator at the venue, who sort of runs everything behind the scenes on the day. They are the experts, so more often than not they know the right questions to ask you to find out what you want. Just go with a rough idea of numbers, whether ou want sit down meal then evening buffet, or 2 buffets, or carvery then buffet. They will guide you though if they know what they are doing!!!

Well I went to the meeting both ladies were very down to earth I'm in her book now and she has an idea of what I want and the colur scheme I roughly will about 150 guests all depending how many want to come and with top " tottie decor and food " as one of the ladies called its gonna cost around £ 2000 not sure itf that's was hoping for a couple of hundred cheaper but the stuff they do is amazing... Lighted centerpiece's with the big coloured feathers coming out if it balloons in arches all down the venue so near lights so they look illuminated runners covers saches table bling seats of material lit up heart which is about 8ft tall which is iwire Frapped in ivy and flowers which is gonna be in the entrance along with the stairway that will also be decorated the same and the top table will have starlight curtain behind it ..alng with about 4 flower arrangement round the room .. I think its goons look so lush and I don't have to worry about a thing...I even mentioned a table plan and the lady said that the venue would even do that for me .. very excited now thou ...xx

You've got an absolute bargain there my dear!!! For £3k, i get the room all day, 3 course carvery for 50, 2 glasses of wine per guest, a glass of fizz per guest, and evening buffet (hot pork cobs, crackling, apple sauce, stuffing, potato wedges) for 90 people. I have to decorate it myself, but I guess all the staff are included. And no DJ, laptop plugged into the PA instead!!! xxx
