I think Greek and I think pillars. So maybe a Greek style pillar that a flower display can sit on? Would be subtle and in theme :)

well thinking along the pillar theme you can get some cake pillars which are small (siver or white) and maybe sit an arangement on it ..ie...your choice of colours in an arrangement or just white flowers with green leafs the name for what im taking about has vanished lol but hope you are getting what i mean ...lol xx

Just one point; whatever you do, don't tell your guests that you're having a 'grecian' theme. Before you know it, you'll both be inundated with an endless supply of grecian 2000! lol :-)

Yes thats the plan. We have already decided which gods/goddesses we are having and the top table will be Hera which is the queen of marriage, but Hades will definitely be left out lol.

Yeah I think they will be perfect for the table centre pieces and I think at £15 each they are really resonable. I just hope they are still doing them next year as I dont think I could trust myself to keep all 6 alive for over a year lol.
For the top table I will probably have a spray of flowers as it will be nice to have some fresh flowers somewhere.

I came across these candelabras and think they are a steal at £14.
Im thinking of wrapping some ivy vines around them, do you think they look Grecian enough?

Here's my thoughts, you don't have to follow them of course.

You seem to be leaning toward an ancient Greek type of theme from what I can see? I think the candelabra will work well with the vines. If this is the feel you're going for I think a 'bountiful feast' type feel would be great, perhaps having grapes on the tables and blue geometric swirl (the greek type) table runners?

I hope it all comes together beautifully for you. x

You're spot on Polekitty, I love the grape idea!
The candelabras above are way too small, we went to check them out today. However I have found fairly local florist who hires her candelabras out for £12 each (silver 80cm 5 arm ones) and she has said she can decorate them for me, just waiting for the quote to come back now.

Love the candleabras, will you put candles on them? blue would be nice if you are sticking to the colour scheme you mentioned, have you looked at anything to put them on? There are lots of plates which use greek designs, could be good for the grapes hehe :)

Hey suzyb, the pattern I'm talking about is called 'Greek key' it's the one you find on the edge of Greek vases etc. I think it would be really nice to incorporate it into the design somewhere perhaps as place settings? =)

I think that adding grapes on geometric type plates would be piled with grapes, maybe with leaves under the grapes? would look stunning. The candelabras would look amazing in silver, it would be fab if she could add some vines?

I had a look around just now and I actually agree on the cake pillars too, if you could get a very large one, or four smaller ones and a platform, you could place a small grecian urn on top (All in white) and then have blue flowers, you could even do the urns alone (I found some for under £3 at 12inch diameter and 10inch height).

Blue candles would be nice, it would add a bit more colour as well. Thanks Sparklez.
A friend of mine has offered to lend me her mirrors she had for her wedding to put my centre pieces on. I dont want to go to crazy with things and have it go over the top and over budget lol.
I looked into the urns but all the ones I found were expensive. What did you see for under £3 Polekitty, pillars or urns?

If you can get the table pillars they would look amazing! You could top them with fruit and flowers in pottery bowls.
In case you weren't aware, in Greek mythology the first apple tree was created as a gift for Hera on her wedding day. Not sure if you can get miniature apple trees, but that would be a cute tie-in.
Dont go too overboard with Ivy! Ivy crowns were worn by the God's who enjoyed participating in orgies and as a symbol of their love for intoxication xD

HAHA thanks for the heads up on the ivy.
I really liked the idea of the olive or apple trees but im not sure I want run the risk of having to get them too soon before the wedding incase I cant get hold of them
Maybe I could get one to go on the cake table, that way I dont have to worry about trying to find 8 trees lol.
I love the pillars but im just worried about balancing things on top of them, especially with children around.
Damn I wish I knew someone who can do pottery, cant think of the name of whats thats called off the top of my head lol.
