    Hi all,

I live a 10 minute walk from my wedding venue. We are having ceremony & reception in the same place and staying there in the evening. I have been getting quotes for cars etc and they want to charge me £200+ to take me just round the corner.

Its a one-way journey which will take 2 minutes by car. I was thinking of just calling a cab but H2B is horrified of me turning up in a local cab!

Any ideas suggestions are greatly welcomed!

Some cab companies have luxury cars that they keep back for special occasions and cost much less than actual wedding cars, so calling a cab company isn't actually that bad of an idea. I live 5 mins from my church, and the reception is 5 mins from there so I will be doing this :) xxx

I wanted to get a cab too as my venue was 2 miles from where I was getting ready. Lots of people were also horrified at the idea ... in the end my MOH's husband drove us there. I got some ribbon and he put it on his golf. My mum in particular didn't like this idea very much and I really had to put my foot down and say that we were not prepared to spend the money on getting a fancy car. She suggested to me that she might pay for it so I told her that she was NOT to do that and I wanted MOH's husband to take us - it was all just her snobbery and the thought of the neightbours seeing me getting in to a fancy car!

id say the same as Linzi-Jo about the cabs, sometimes have good cars that they use for such occasions and they dress it with a bow xx

See if you know anyone with a nice car or hire one for the day.... my brother got married this year and the bride went in a posh range rover which a friend had but my brother hired a nice audi from a hire company, put some ribbons on it then the best man drove him and the groom to the wedding then drove the bridesmaid onto the reception and then the car went back the following day. Its alot cheaper then hiring a normal car with a driver when you could ask your dad/brother/uncle, etc to drive you instead?

I would go for the luxury cab companies, a lot cheaper then wedding cars, look for exceutive cars.
