It's been a while since I last came onto the forum, I've just been so busy with a new job, but I absolutely HATED it, so now here I am sat on the sofa eating grapes! My dress is about an inch too tight at the top so it won't string up as I've put on a ridiculous amount of weight trying to de-stress from that horrid horrid job! but I'm wearing a bolero so you can't actually see it bursting at the top lol.

Since my last post other things have improved. MIL et al have resigned and decided to come to the wedding (with the exception of one grandmother who has sadly had a stroke and is too frail now bless her) and SIL wrote me an apology begging for her place back without her evil OH who has been extradited from our lives due to cancelling their wedding because he has been caught using their savings to buy a car for his bit on the side!

BUT here's the massive problem. It's only 2 months away and I'm SO worried that the wedding is going to be catastrophic, everything is going to go wrong and mostly I'm afraid people are going to be BORED! As I'm getting married outside, there is no music, and I can't afford a harpist ect. having a little CD player seems tacky in such a massive space, but I will effectively be walking down the aisle in silence. Doesn't bother me at all but what other people might think :S I'm not having an evening do as it's a working night so most people have to travel back to our home city afterwards so it's basically ceremony and meal. Are people going to feel bored or feel like it was pointless coming because the day was so short?

I dont think a cd for you walking down the aisle would be tacky at all, ive had lots of friends use them for their outside weddings and the music has been lovely, as for your guests being bored, i dont think they will, they will be there to see you marry, what time is your wedding and your meal, im sure people wont mind that there is no evening party, the people who will be there will be there for you, not for what they will be getting, look forward to your day and enjoy xx

Like higginszajac said... those who care will be there, they are there for one reason and that is to see you get married :)

So glad everything has been sorted with his family!! Have missed you on here and wondered if something had gone terribly wrong. Glad it's the opposite!! :)

I don't think a cd player is tacky at all!! It's the norm for outdoor weddings. We're getting married outside and will have a cd playing :)

My dress didn't fit before by a LOT and I tried it on yesterday to find it fits!! I only cut out late night snacking. No exercise at all or hard diet. Two months is still enough time to lose that tiny amount needed. And I say tiny amount as if it fits well enough for you to be able to cover it up, it is still achievable :)

You could just have some background music playing quietly during and after the meal?? Maybe it'll also give your guests the chance to really converse with each other

Just because its a big place, you only have to think about music for the immediate area where your guests are. and being outside I think a CD player or iPod is the norm.
We are getting married on a Saturday but still we are not having an evening reception, and harp music from an iPod will be playing while we eat.
And we are getting married in a registry office and a cd player will be used for the music.

No-one is going to think anything about it....they will be just so in awe of you in your dress and the whole wedding excitement to think about how the music was piped through.

I wouldn't worry about the CD player hun, my sister and lots of others have them for their ceremonies and they have been in full view of the guests too. No one will think anything of it tbh ..............hope it all goes well and you have the most fab special day xxxx

Thanks ladies, the advice about the CD player has reassured me :) I've cut out all the sugary drinks ect but I find it really difficult not to eat potatoes, pasta and rice. Carbs are my absolute weakness!

My wedding ceremony was 9am, OH's family whinged, so it's now 11am, they are still whinging, but those were the only times the registrars had and that date is very special so.. But after the ceremony will be a sit down wedding meal, which the same people also whinged about the content of (see a pattern here?) The meal itself is fine as that's inside so I can have music there and people will be talking amongst themselves :D I think then, I will just have continuous classical music playing outside, thanks everyone :) x
