Our venue only allows biodegradable confetti but natural petals seem to be very expensive, anyone know of any cheap places to get some? thank you x

    Welcome

Ive actually got little envelopes to put mine in as I'm going to attach them to our order of the days hehehe

But if you want cones find some card, paper that you like and make them yourself alot cheaper!
My friend got black card and wrapped ivory lace round hers looked STUNNING and cost her half of what she was qouted from someone else doing them!

A pack of doilies is 99p for 20 ish, and you need half a doily for each cone.....99p for 40 cones.

Hmmm I wanted plain cones, but doilies are so much cheaper than buying cones. Do plain doilies exist!? No luck on the bay.

What flowers have you used for the petas lala and how do you dry them? Probably a silly question, is it just a case of leaving them somewhere warm to dry out?

I have made my cones out of vintage sheet music and purple paper to line them. Dollies would have been so much easier doh!
I am making my own petals, every time a supermarket reduces its roses down to below £ i am there tearing them up then leaving them on a big tray to dry!

Thats so cool Sammi, i think i will be doing the same! I had a look at ready dried petals but it still seems too much so maybe it would be easier to make my own and far cheaper! x

I just dry mine on a plastic tray on top of the kitchen units! They take up to 2 weeks but they have dried fine, I have only had to chuck a few dodgy petals away but i think they were past their best to start with! I have my mum on the case too!!

The cones i made look beautiful, i spent ages making sure they all had lyrics about love and used the titles too, i bet no-one will notice! hehehe

    They're so cute Sian!

I don't have any lacy bits in my wedding though so want plain paper ones. I've seen online to cut paper into squares 15cm x 15cm - does that sound right Sammi? Also, what weight paper. I don't want them too thin or too thick!

oo you got me thinking about the sheet music and in the interest of diy/money saving, find something off the net/stored onto your computer and print it out. i keep thinking of raiding my father in law to es garden as the petals are falling from his roses and dry them out and save them for the big day lol Also you can get paper edgers that you kind of stamp onto paper like a hole punch that do loads of different designs. a design your own paper cone if you will lol Sorry a bit of a higgledy piggledy post, but would you be able to use any flower petals? i was thinking of using ones that match my flowers, if they can be grown in the garden why not use them aswell or instead of rose petals? x

I bought petals because my garden is flower free, all green bushes and trees. But the ones I bought are delphiniums so don't think it needs to be roses no.

I saw the paper edgers the other day! so cute!

petals use any .... lillys dont do to well but and roses are fab .... go to the supermarkets buy the reduced ones ... enjoys them in a vase the when the start to drop put the on a tray that you have covered in grease proof paper .... leave that somewhere out of the way and they will dry in their own time
