Wedding Forum - Our day went perfectly! (with photos)...

Hello lovely ladies and gents,

I just wanted to tell everyone that it is all totally worth it! All the planning, stresses, dreams and sleepless nights.

We got married on May 16th and the whole day was magical. I definitely recommend Portugal as a wedding destination, as the people are lovely. I'm now a very happy, content Mrs Abbey

We were so lucky with the weather in Portugal, as the day prior to the wedding was a scorcher and the day after the wedding was pretty cold but on the day the weather was beautiful. The day was stressfree and started at the hairdressers at 11am with my Bridesmaid and brothers girlfriend. The photographers were a bit late but we didn't care. We managed to co-ordinate my arrival to the hotel, so that Adam didn't see me until the 3:30pm ceremony kick off. The photographers got lots of extra pictures, as the portuguese registrar was delayed as he got a bit lost lol! So I have some amazing photos. The ceremony got underway half an hour late but that was fine, except for Adam having to spend an extra half hour in his suit in the sunshine.
It didn't really hit me that I was getting married until I saw Adam waiting for me and shedding a few tears when he finally clocked me coming around the corner. My brother, who was giving me away, was so supportive and complimentary (normally he makes a joke of everything but in this instance he did my Dad proud).
Everyone said the ceremony was lovely. We had the rose ceremony and at the end all the guests went onto the bridge over the beach and we set of 50 white balloons attached to paper origami doves. It was so special, as this was to remember my Dad on the day.

My Matron of honour slaved away in her apartment, the day before the wedding, to make 50 delicious cupcakes for our day. This was so nice of her and she did this because she knew i wouldn't be able to eat any of my wedding cake otherwise, due to my food allergies. They were absolutely delicious too! Adam ate 5 in the end!!!

The photographers weren't intrusive at all and all the guests had a great time. Food was amazing and I couldn't fault our venue in the slightest, as the staff were so attentive. We got married right on the beach in Lagos. Our wedding planners were amazing too, they made sure everything was as I'd asked for it to be and had even thought of extras, to make the day magical.

The speeches were funny, my brothers especially and Adam remembered to thank everyone. He even sang to me a little, which I really didn't think he would do even though he had threatened to do it!!!!

During the party my brother and Adam had also disappeared for a bit and returned in baywatch outfits to give the guests a bit of a giggle and our DJ even joined in with the baywatch theme tune. It was hilarious!!

We had 9 children at the party and they were all fantastically well behaved. They partied harder than the adults in the end and really enjoyed themselves.

We are now all home from our wonderful holiday, Adam is still getting used to wearing a ring and I'm off to buy a rose bush today to top off the promise we made in our rose ceremony.

I'd like to wish all future brides a perfect, special day when it is your time and hope you have all the success for your relationships.

Aw thanks ladies you've all been very kind. The dress did feel amazing on the day and the bonus is that I get to wear it again to our little party back in the UK for those who couldn't make it to Portugal! Yey!!! :o)

Becky Mrs Firth 2b - You're right my MOH was brilliant making the cupcakes. I think she found it a little difficult in someone elses kitchen too as couldn't find a sieve so ended up using a colander lol!

Rockabilly chick - I did make all the wee origami birds but they were really fun to make :o)
