To be able to have our favourite reception venue we will have to have a Friday or Sunday wedding, this is the only times they do wedding packages and it works out alot more expensive for a Saturday. My H2B works in a school so ideally we need to have our wedding in the school holidays, we then realised that there is a bank holiday at the end of August. This would make it cheaper at our reception venue and still be like having a Saturday wedding as most ppl will have the Monday off. Now theres one big issues, we really want a church wedding ceremony. I have left a message for the reverend to see if he will be willing to marry us on a Sunday. I cant tell you how nervous I am, if he says no then we will have to go back to the drawing board. Is anyone else having a church wedding on a Sunday and if so how accomodating was the reverend?

Sorry hun, we're having a Saturday wedding in an RC church. I didn't think people tended to marry in church on a Sunday but maybe things have changed.
Fingers crossed for you!

Thanks Indreamland. It says on the church of England website that it is possible and it is the third most popular day to get married, but it will depend if it clashes with Sunday services. x

I think they will marry you, but only in an afternoon ceremony, and if I remember rightly these happen after 4pm, so it may not work out if you want a traditional, sit down wedding breakfast and a full wedding day. I hope your church is different though! FIngers crossed for you xxx

H2B wanted our wedding to be earlier, we're having it at 1:30pm but Fr Paul said that 1:30pm is the earliest they can do as they have Saturday morning mass that finishes at 12noon so they need a break and also to clear all the congregation, prep the church before the guests arrive. I personally was quite grateful because to get hair and make up done and then to do a 45-55 min trip to get to the church, I wouldn't want it earlier as I am not a morning person and the thought of getting up early is not my idea of fun on my wedding day.
Do you know what time their Sunday services are Suzy? xx

Dreamland I had a look at their website and it says their morning service starts at 10:30am, they then have another service at 5pm at the sister church. However there are two reverends so I dont know if one does the morning and the other does the afternoon?

We're getting married Jubilee Sunday at 2pm, all I did was ask the vicar and he said they've never done a Sunday wedding before but it was still possible, only he couldn't guarantee the organist, bell ringers or choir as it depended on peoples availability - so we took the risk and booked it, and as it turns out all the people are available and we get our reception venue - it was only available on the Sunday :-)
