Ok, so when we booked our venue, the menu choices were a massive selling point for me and H2B. We are both big foodies and wanted a great menu to offer our guests. The venue was booked a year ago and from then until now they had a lovely diverse menu with great options and we had in our minds selected out starter main and dessert that we thought best complimented the day and was personal to us. BUT now they have changed their menus :( now I'm not fussy about food and neither is h2b. But there is nothing on this menu either of us would want to eat at our wedding let alone serve our guests. It's all really pretentious food with strange ingredients and very exotic options. I more than happy to eat Japanese food but on my wedding day, in a traditional English abbey I just don't get it!!! I'm so upset as the wedding breakfast is a huge part of the day and we were so happy with the precious menu. Feel like we have been cheated out of what was perfect for us.

Am I being silly and unreasonable or is this unfair?

Opinions would be greatly appreciated xxx

That's what I was hoping but having emailed venue they said No. :( h2b is going to ring them personally tomorrow as we don't think its right but they have a new chef so I don't think its likely. X

I would ask them if they can work with you on the menu, explain that one of the reasons yo booked was because of the food and see if they can work something out.

If i was you i would really lay it on with them that you booked because of the menu, if the new chef wont work with you is there the option to get in an outside caterer? as you have just under a year to go im sure you can sort this all out.

Did they tell you this when you booked? I'm guessing not, in which case I would tell them that you want the old menu as this was the main reason you booked, and if they still refuse then I would ask them for your deposit back and tell them you will be looking elsewhere, the liklihood is that they will agree to changing the menu back for you, purely because they dont want to lose out on your money. I really hope you can sort something out with them hun, I never even thought about this happening! xxx

my venue have done the same but they have agreed to supply the original menu as it was in our contract as to what we were choosing from. i agree with linzi-jo ask them politley to either supply an agreed menu or refund your deposit and look for another venue.

Are venue has told us the menu will have changed by the time we get married. I agree to just asking if they can do the stuff you were wanting as this is what made you happy. If not, just tell them you are really not happy with the new menu and is there anything a bit more traditional that the chef can do?

Good news... They are letting us use the old menu wahey!!!!!! Huge sigh of relief. It took a bit of persuading and we had to bring up our terms of contract and they eventually gave way. I just hope it will still be done properly and we haven't ruffled too many feathers :/

Thanks for your advice and support ladies, much appreciated xxx
