We got a deal on our suits at a wedding fayre so ours is about £60 each and free hire for the groom. Not bad as our best man is hiring suits from the same place for his wedding but he didn't get a special offer so he's paying about £90 a suit. I have no idea if we pay for them all or if we can ask them to pay for their own. I'm buying my bridesmaids dresses (My sister and her two little girls), so feel a bit cheeky not paying for the suits. I'd like to know what everyone else is doing... xxx

I know lol. H2b is best man this year for his best man, so if the best man pays for the suits for his wedding, then we'll have to pay for his xxx

We hired tails for the men (£100 each - we paid) but we were originally going to have regular suits in which case we would have expected the best man to have paid for his own (he would have had joint decision) as it's something that he can wear again.

I think if your hiring a suit it is rude to ask someone to pay for the hirer and then give it back as nothing to show for it and you chose to have them as your best man/usher so they are put out of pocket. I feel the same with hiring bridesmaid dresses however if you are buying the bridesmaid dress/suit then i dont see any harm in asking for a contribution as they will have something to keep from their money. I think if you are paying for bridesmaids then definitly pay for groomsmen too, only fair !!
Alternatively when my mum got married 3 years ago she asked the best man/ushers to wear a simple black suit and most men own one or would have had to buy/hire one for their wedding anyway if they were a guest and mum just brought them all white shirts and matching ties so kept costs for everyone and they all had something to keep. It looked nice too as not as formal or fussy as a normal wedding suit but depends what you want.
Suit hire ranges but definitely negotiate... mine are £75 each including full suit, waistcoast, cravats and shoes and the groom goes free. I have picked a local smaller company so negotitated on my price but bigger High street shops like BTons and Dhams also do them and i found the Btons suits really nice as more modern and did slim fit. Groom tends to go free in alot of places i saw.
Finally marrying the love of my life !!

I was talking about this with my parents the other day and they said that really you should pay for the best mans suit and the grooms as they should be matching but ushers dont have to be, so we will be asking the ushers to buy their own but we will pay for a waistcoat and/or cravat. My dad is also going to buy his own but he wants to be matching with the groom and best man, and when I was talking about hiring, he said he would rather spend and extra bit of money and have it to keep to wear again xxx

We are hiring ours so are paying for them. We are going to get them from an online company that we saw at a wedding fayre that have had brill reviews. Getting the prince edward suit with cravet shirt waistcoat handerchief and shoes if we want to add them all for £57 (does include cufflinks but we dont need them as they are part of their thank you gifts) per person and if we hire 4 we get grooms for free which we are :-)

Ours should of been £99 to hire each one, full suit hire, carvat, hanky, wasit coat, shirt, trousers, coat etc. We had a 20% off and then buy 4 suits and get one free, it ended up only £63 odd each, with a pretty big company. We used there direct service too, which means they came out and let my H2B try all the suits on at home, they'll come to our home and measure everyone and deliver and pick up the suits from us, for no extra cost. x

We are buying ours from Matalan £55 per suit, thats just trousers and jacket but they have a lot of choice in there. We will then get some waistcoats and ties.
We decided not to ask any of them to pay for their suits but decided we would let them keep their suits as their thank you gift from us xx

I'm so glad you brought this up lilmisschuckles. We have 5 men to get suits for, we are buying ours, I didn't even think about asking for a donation from them.
The Grooms is - £87.44 The Best Man's is - £104.43 The Usher's are - £104.43 (x4)
So our total for the men's suits are - £609.59
Groom's is cheaper because he doesn't want a waistcoat and all the other are having one. Not sure if that too much or not for all of them. All the prices include shoes, tie and pocket hanky, jacket, trousers, shirt, and the waste coats.

I'm going for black suits, as most already own one. I wouldn't wear rental anything, so i won't make the men either.
