Well, after getting lost as the registry office has relocated and being late, then not being able to find Paul's change of name deed and the solicitors informing us that they had destroyed the original documents....we finally managed to give notice and I quite enjoyed it! The registrar was lovely and chatty, do now it's time to choose the vows and the type of ceremony we want...exciting!!!!!x

Yeah I know what you mean...im pleased they provided vows to choose from as I didn't want anything cheesy either. I love the idea of family members lighting candles and then us lighting the one in the middle. We were thinking of giving our nana's the candle lighting job..I think they'll love that.x

It was a pretty comical morning actually...drove all over around the area where the registry office is, before phoning them and realising we were in the opposite car park and could see where we needed to be after all...then got out of the car and tried to get into the wrong building and ended up walking across a green where loads of men in suits were staring at us for strolling across the gardens during their meeting, haha...we turned up at the registrars in fits of giggles after finding the right building eventually...before informing her we had no change of name deed, she didn't think we could give notice as she couldn't trace Paul back to his original name...I think Paul was gutted when she came back and said it was ok - he thought he had got out of marrying me...no chance!! Haha!

we're picking the candle lighting ceremony too. we're going to have one large memory candle already when when guests arrive to represent people who are no longer with us. From this candle the registrar will ask our representatives to each light their candle and we'll then light our large candle from theirs. This will then hopefully leave the memory candle and our joint one burning after the other 2 have burnt out. If all that makes sense x

Jenny, I think you can find how much it is on the government website. I can't remember we gave notice so long ago. What I can remember is how exciting it is though. I'm glad we did it early though because I just couldn't find time to do it now!
