I feel like I'm having a constant battle with my weight and how I look, one minute I'm starving myself, then it goes out of the window and I stuff my face. (As a doctor I should know better).
But it got me wondering... what are your opinions?...

I don't know what option to choose hun!

I know deep down I don't need to lose weight (5' 1.5" and size 8 - 10, sometimes a 6 if the sizing is all up the wall - I even have a size 0 dress from Marc Jacobs) ..................however, like a lot of girls, I'm never happy with the way I look or feel, maybe it's because my sister is a few inches taller than me and is a size 6 - 8 with bigger boobs, so it makes me feel bleugh!

You get your feeling fat days and other days when you're really happy with your body.

I have put on half a stone since getting engaged (since mid-January) and I want to lose that but I think other than that I wouldn't want to lose more as I know I will start to look drawn and a bit anorexic like.

    xx

I chose I want to but find it hard.
I'm a very very very fussy eater and there is not really much that I do eat. I find it hard to go on diets as I don't like any of the food. I have a BIG fear to try new stuff. I'm just stuck in one big rutt!!!!

I dont really need to lose weight (other than the baby belly that just wont shift lol) but tbh i dont think any1 should change just for their wedding day! ur h2bs are with you because you are you! fat, skinny, tiny or tall! they love you for who you are!!! If you drop 2 dress sizes, who's to say your h2b wont be really disappointed that you've changed so much? i understand everyone has something about them that they dont like (i hate my boobs) but you have got what you're given and your h2b chose you xxx

I haven't ticked a b ox as my attitude is slightly different...
Although I think I could have done with losing a couple of kilos, I decided I wouldn't make any special effort as I didn't want to look back at my wedding photo's in 10 years time and say 'oh, look how lovely and slim I was there. I wish I was like that now'. I am what I am and as much as I look in the mirror some days and whish I looked/felt different, that's just how it is. I was surprised at the numbe rof people who thought it strange that I wasn't on a pre-wedding diet and I think it's really sad that there's an expectation for a bride to be to be doing that and putting more pressure on herself when it's already a stressful time organising the wedding.

Some good points from all of you!
I have put on quite a bit since meeting H2B and just always long to be as slim as I was- I figure if I can't do it for my wedding then I probably never will. I do agree that women shouldn't be under so much pressure to get thin for just one day, but I currently don't like how I look in most of the pictures of me and don't want to feel the same way about my wedding pics. That said, I love my food and my wine and find it hard to deny myself! X

I'm planning on loosing a little bit as I'm not happy how I am with my double chin when I smile.

I used to think I wish I was a size 6 again till I saw a photo of me from when I left school. I now sort of know how an anorexic feels I used to think my thighs were huge even then and then in the photo my legs are like sticks!

I want to lose weight but have zero will power. Well, I do but it's complicated. I have a tendency to become addicted/obsessed when I focus on something (doesn't seem to matter what it is), so I don't want to risk just eating rice cakes with a slice of wafer thin turkey again lol I know the mental issues I have and know my limitations and triggers and don't want to risk falling into hole.

I know my h2b loves me, but he fell for me when I was a size 8. He wouldn't have looked twice if I was my current size (14+). I, like a lot of people) have a problem with the way I look and I hate my body. If I lost weight, I would feel better about myself and be a lot more confident about being naked with h2b.

I have lost 14kg and kept it off since November, I am struggling to lose the last few pounds :s
I used to be thinner and put a lot of weight on gradually over a few years, i already have the photos where i look back and wish i was that slim again. Im not going crazy though and some of it (well a lot of it) is getting back to a healthy weight and feeling better about myself generally - it will be hard to keep it off after the wedding but im going to try!

i struggle to get the will power to lose weight. I always tend to get to a weight I am happy with just before we go on holidays as I am scared of wearing a bikini unless I am a certain weight. The honeymoon is only a week after the wedding. I actually got sized at 8st as this was just before Malta and got told to put weight on to fit my dress. However, I put on 2st as we didnt go on hol last year. I am losing the weight again for the honeymoon, and I will go back to 8st again and just pay for alterations. I know the dress will not show if I lose that extra 7lbs due to the design of it so I dont need to lose it for that. I could probably even wear it now and still look stunning but I am losing for the honeymoon.
I found it hard until recently when I worked out how far until the HEN and I have a killer dress I wont fit in unless I lost the weight, Yes its been hard picking yp hubby to be when starving and he works near a chippie but I jut kept visualising the dress and the future bikini

I hate that when me and my OH got together I was 3 sizes smaller than I am now. I have tried to get back to that and even though I have lost weight I havent lost size which matters more. I am still going to try to lose a bit before the wedding although I feel like I am running out of time, and I dont think I will succeed. It makes me sad, but as long as he thinks I look beautiful I guess nothing else matters.

I am joining the gym today though. So perhaps that will do it!

May give you some inspiration so you dont have to just rely on the gym? x Hope you lose it. Just try and stay determined and think when you want a chinese... its only x more weeks and then I can eat a good takeway again haha

However, if i dont lose as much weight as i want too then i wouldnt mind, as i like how i look in the dress, its a corset back and pulls me right in... its just my arms. im 5"6 too....

Think its most girls thing, to lose weight before the big day! but i am stuggling hard to get motivated.

I have voted that I would like to lose some weight but h2b loves me the way I am. I've had major issues with my weight since I was 14. I was always a large child and as a dancer I was being made aware by my ballet teacher that I was too big. Her words were "You will never get anywhere being that size" I had this from the age of 5! I wasn't actually that big, I was a child who put on weight then had a growth spurt. But this stayed with me all through my life. Then at 14 I decided I wasnt going to be bigger than the other dancers anymore and I starved myself. I only ate at weekends and even then it was salad, nothing else. My mum found out and as I was at 7st she told the school that she wanted me supervised at lunch so they sat there and MADE me eat. So I started to make myself sick straight after. This went on all the way up until I met my h2b. It was him who started to make me eat and tell me how beautiful I am. I put on weight and got up to 9 and a half stone and wasnt happy so I went back to starving myself! I am now 5ft4, 8 and a half stone, and a size 8-10, I have a bum and I have 32E boobs. My h2b tells me everyday I am beautiful and he wouldn't change a thing about me. If I do start to lose a bit of weight he watches me to make sure I am eating and not making myself ill after, and tells me I am getting too thin! I am now contenet with my weight and my size, so much so that when my ballet teacher told me a year ago that I had to lose weight off my stomach, hips, bum and boobs my reply was "They arent going no where, this was the shape my mum gave me, so you will have to deal with that!" I dont so much want to lose weight as tone up! But I can live with myself if I dont, and my h2b thinks I am beautiful as I am, so that is good enough for me xxx

my weight had slowly crept up to 14 stone 4lb by September last year so i deiced to join slimming world to help lose the weight and also to get me out the house and meet people in the area i had just moved to so far i have lost nearly 2 stone and i i want to lose another 2 stone before the wedding.

the weight loss wasn't started because of the wedding but it is spurring me on to keep going i want to look at my best and hate to see pictures of my self so i hope the weight loss will help me feel more comfortable in front of the camera. my h2b is happy with the way i look and doesn't say anything about my weight he doe support me with slimming world and i cook the meals for the whole family and we do enjoy them. it does help that i can still have what i want to eat and don't have to say i can't have chocolate or a glass of wine if i want one. slimming wold is more about teaching you to eat healthy and think about what you put in your mouth rather then cutting out all your favourite foods so i don't feel like I'm restricting myself to much.

thats what I like about ww. I can eat what I want but I have to watch the portions and make sure I stay within points.... luckily at the mo im not missing anything so havent felt the need to try and 'budget' for anything. Only thing I miss is pringles but given I eat a whole tub and thats about 45 pro points thats nearly two days worth of food so I am sterring clear of them. May treat myself to a curly wurly one day soon as I know they are low in points and will last ages if I put it in the fridge frist.

i have lost weight and am now sooooo much happier with how I look, and how I feel. I feel so much more attractive and I know Adam finds me more attractive (even though he insists he will love me whatever).
BUT did I do it for the wedding? no, I did it because I needed to lose weight but having the goal of the wedding really really helped :o) I promised myself I'd be a size 16 by the time the wedding arrived - I started as a 16/18 top and 20 bottoms and I'm now a 14 top and 18 bottoms so didn't quite make it but I don't care, I now love my new figure so I'm happy!
I used WW to start with, and then have been using myfitnesspal online to keep it up xxxxx

I voted number 4 but I'm not claiming anything miraculous here! I find it extremely difficult to lose weight, so I've decided if I start now and do it slowly maybe there's a chance it'll stay off. So far I've lost about four pounds, which isn't much in almost four months, but slow and steady wins the race and all that....I hope!!!!

Well I'm a mixture of the last three!
My h2b loves me the way I am, but I was unhappy and had no confidence in the body I was wearing, and this in turn made h2b sad that I was sad.
So i have been trying really hard to shift the weight, almost at the 2 stone gate now, sometimes it's really easy and other times it's reaaaly hard to shift a pound, but it's important to me and so that keeps going, the joy I will feel when I jump on the scales and they tell me something I'm not ashamed off!

I am not starting my diet tomorrow........it HAS TO BE TODAY!
I cant believe i have hit 13 stone! I have alsways been 11 stone and thats right for my height ....5' 8......but I can really feel the excess 2 stone and I feel fat and my clothes are uncomfortable.

2 stone is 3 months might be a challenge but if I try and only lose one stone.....well its better than none isnt it?

I have today actually had a healthy breakfast..(before I even decided going on the diet ) I had Museli with semi skimmed milk..
I think I will have roast chicken for lunch, with veggies and potatoes....(I am not depriving myself and I think veggies are healthy anyway)
Then for dinner i will have salad I think.....instead of a big mac meal which I sometimes do on a weekend.

I am 3.5 stone heavier than when I met h2b, it has taken me quite a while to come to accept that I am the size I am with lots of yoyo dieting and low self esteem but recently I have started to accept that I am curvier than I used to be and that a good thing. I do want to tone up and have joined a gym to achieve that before the wedding but also as trying to be healthier.

I strongly disagree with people losing lots of weight purely for their wedding and crash dieting in the weeks in the run up. It is unhealthy and unless you are making a permanent change to your lifestyle/diet then it is craziness and adds more pressure and stress at an already stressful time. family, friends and H2b love you as you are and don't care if the label inside your dress says size 8 or size 22.

My pre-wedding panic lasted all of 2 days, I've just got back from eating my own bodyweight in food at Harvester! H2B has got really fit in the last year, he's worked really hard to lose weight and get muscly and looks great- and it makes me feel even worse about how I look. It's always him that wants to go out for dinner, get takeaways etc as he can burn it off so easily and I never have the will to say no! Final dress fitiing next week so i need to do something drastic now!
Like others have said, i probably need to tone up more than anything, dress will hide most of me but am very conscious of my arms- plus my BMs are so thin! x

Get the mini dumbbells out hun! Or if you don't have any use tins of food or fill bottles up with water or sand. They'll work the arms and you can use these too when doing squats and lunges - that should help with toning arms, LBT's. For the stomach, it's the plank! Kills but works xxx

Good idea InDreamland... will get started on it tomorrow... Have some little weights covered in dust somewhere! Along with a toning belt, skipping rope, toning ball, exercise DVDs etc- they all only ever get used once! xx

I have picked im trying to lose weight and succeding but that is mainly to do with the fact that i have had 2 babies in the last 3 years and i went up 3 dress sizes. Im doing it for myself and not just for the wedding although that is a bonus. Im doing it with sw and have lost 2 1/2 stone already and feel so much better x

I wanted to lose weight for my wedding, really did, but even if I did lose it, that's not me. I've always been big, and yeah I might lose weight after the wedding and kick myself at the size I am, but chances are, I'd lose weight for the wedding and put it all back on after.

I'm happy as I am, and my h2b likes me as I am :) That's all that matters. Oh and I still feel like a princess in my dress :')

    xx

I would like to lose some weight but I do think its pretty silly to deliberately buy a dress thats too small so that you slim into it because it can be stressful enough planning a wedding without that additional pressure. The other thing is its so unnecessary! I say this fully knowing that most of us are self-conscious about at least part of our bodies and want to look and feel our best on the big day, but really its all about getting a style of dress that flatters you and fits well!

Can I just say that I know from experience it doesn't matter how much weight you lose or how much you tone up, you will never be happy with your body! Something else will always take over being wrong, so if you think your bum is too big, you will lose weight off of it and then decide you dont like you tummy, then you will sort that out and decide you dont like your thighs. Until you are happy with who you are on the inside, you will never be happy with who you are on the outside xxx

That is so true Linzi-Jo. And as you've said previously, this obsession we girls tend to have with our bodies and how much we dislike them can be really unhealthy. x

i am a really big lady and my h2b loves me as i am. I was smaller when i met him but not much and i am less than i was at my heaviest and yes sometimes i think of how lovely it would be to have skinny wedding pics but i know that having never been skinny that would take a miracle and to be fair i am not unhappy i still get dressed up when i go out and get compliments and i fell in love with a wedding dress that i can fit into so sod it lol, i will probably lose a little but if i dont i dont, i am not gonna stress over it cause i know i am loved and thats all that matters x
