The church is only 0.75 miles from my house and the venue is 4 miles away. I really don't like the idea of coughing up £100s for about 30 minutes use, has anyone any ideas? I can't walk it, lol (though I have considered it).
My soon-to-be-ex SIL has a nice car but I don't want to ask her, and I don't have anyone else I can ask who has a nice car.

Depends on how important the "niceness" of the car is to you- I was lucky because my dad has a Jag (mid-life crisis, long story), but I did seriously consider driving myself to the venue in my Corsa. Just getting it clean and covering it in ribbons. However in the end, my mum put her foot down and told me that I'm not driving myself, haha.

Have you thought about getting a friend to drive you about but hire a nice car for the day from just a car hire place, that's not a specific wedding car hire? Enterprise or such like, not sure if that'll be any cheaper for you but an idea xx

i was having this problem to my venue is a max 10/15 minute walk from my house but cant really walk that far in my wedding dress i rang a local company and explained and they knocked a bit of money off as its not a full day use and they are taking my bridesmaids first comeing back for me then will take me and h2b for a 30 minute drive around the area while we drink our complimentry champagne and then stop for photos. will give us a little extra use of the car and means we get more for our moeny x

I have this problem too! My church is about 5 minutes away then the reception venue is about 15 minutes. Cars aren't a priority to me and we don't have much money so I don't want to spend loads on cars. I don't care about having a fancy expensive car, but I need to get me, my mum, my sister and her two kids to the church, then I need to get to the reception venue too. I don't know what I'm going to do about it yet :/

The Pound Land has lovely car ribbon and lovely car window stickers. You could use a family members car and decorate it yourself x

Have you rang around any taxi companies? Some of them have nice cars that they save for wedding and stuff but it is for a fraction of the price that wedding care hire places charge xxx

I'm getting ready at our reception venue, which is an approx 3 minute walk from our ceremony venue. So, if the weather is good, I'll be walking; if it's bad, I'll be taking a regular taxi.
If you don't have a big dress (ie it's not going to get crumpled on a short journey), I would call a local taxi company and request a nice car; our local taxi firm has some nice cars (eg nice and big and with leather seats), and a taxi for a 4 mile journey would cost around £13-15. You could also have a look at luxury taxi companies; there are a few in my area, which are mainly booked for airport transfers. They charge 20-50% more than mini-cab companies (so, a 4-mile journey would set you back around £20) but all their cars are luxury cars like Mercs.
This would be my choice. I refuse to pay £300 for a car that I'll be using for all of 5 minutes lol.
