Hi Ladies, as I'm sure some of you know, I am Marrying abroad, our problem is, that for our honeymoon after the wedding, our destinations are rainy/wet seasons, is it wrong too delay honeymoon for 8 weeks till the dry season comes round? Really stressinge out :( x

Why would it be wrong hun? Your honeymoon should be perfect so if you want to wait for better weather then go for it :)
I know a lot of people who have a honeymoon a few weeks/months after their wedding due to money etc xx

No, lots of my friends delayed their honeymoons to allow them to sort out post-wedding stuff and finances first. Couple of ppl I know even went on honeymoon for their first anniversary. You just may not get quite same perks from hotel etc if they ask to see wedding certificate to prove it is your honeymoon like our hotel are! X

What destinations are you looking at? Because if you're thinking the Caribbean/Mexico, then it's perfectly safe to go during 'rainy' season; I've been to the Caribbean 6 times in rainy season and you can typically expect hot, humid and sunny weather, with a short shower of approx 10 minutes each day (usually at night), and maybe 1-2 full days of rain over a 2 week stay. So, I wouldn't be put off those destinations due to weather concerns.

If on the other hand you're considering somewhere like India or Thailand, then yes, you would be wise to postpone, as it rains a lot more, and for a lot longer, during rainy season than it does in the Caribbean.

If you really want a honeymoon straight after the wedding, there are lots of other places that have their summer months during our winter

But don't feel you need to honeymoon straight after the wedding. Like you, we are getting married abroad, but we won't be going on honeymoon afterwards

Nothing wrong with doing that if that's what you want to do! It's your wedding and your honeymoon, you can both do what you want no matter what so called traditions say must happen! Xx

my cousin and his wife waited for like six months so they could save the money needed for a trip to africa. weddings are so expensive its not uncommon to wait until after to save for the wedding so 8weeks is nothing if its what you and your partner want!

We had our hearts set on Malaysia, Thailand & The Maldives as its some different and prob the only time we'd get a luxurious holiday. 8 weeks isn't really that long, will still have the party too keep the wedding stretched out :) xx

We are getting married beginning of the school summer hols so we can go straight away but I've been to Malaysia and I would definitely wait the 8 weeks or so to go back. One because it's amazing and two because rainy season means rainy! Lol

There is nothing that says you have to have your honeymoon straight after your wedding! We had ours a month afterwards ... it was lovely to have it to look forward to and there was less stress on the day as we didn't have to worry about having passports, money, clothes packed etc.

We are getting married in the middle of August so not going straight on honeymoon as lots of family travlling so thought it was nice to spend some time with family after the wedding. Its also the school holidays so cheaper if we go away outside of these times and less children around so we are going 8 weeks after our wedding. Nothing wrong with it, you do what you want to do !! xxx

We're getting married in September and going on honeymoon in January, work is busiest for us September-December, and January is really quiet, so it's just practical, and the fact that January will be NZ summer! More time to save up for spends as well, haha! Pretty much all of our friends who've got married have had a gap between wedding and honeymoon, h2b's BM and his wife went to China last month and they got married last July! Don't stress about it, seriously, you have over a year to go and plenty of things that will be far more stressful to deal with without making a mountain out of this, just do whatever suits you and roll with it!

Think its quite the norm for people to wait to go on honeymoon now with the excalating costs of a wedding! we shall be waiting about three/ fourweeks after our wedding. At least when weve had the opportunity to organise everything after the wedding, returning suits etc we have time to get excited about our honeymoon. I think with you getting married abroad you are already having a break/ holiday so waiting for a special honeymoon will be so worth it in the end.

there is no such thing as traditional anymore is there! :) We are going on honeymoon about 4 months after we get married so that we can leave in the coldest part of the winter (Feb). You will have a better time if you go when you want and especially if you don't have to sit indoors waiting out the rain.... oh wait.... its a honeymoon - would it even matter! hehee!

Engaged after 11 years on a surprise trip to Bruges 12Oct11
And not waiting a year longer! Getting married 11Oct12

Where about are you going? It all depends on that really, H2B and i went to Kenya during 'wet season', lashed down... like you've never seen before for about half hr every afternoon and that was it. So if it's somewhere like that then you should be ok.
Other than that, the girls are right, there's no tradition anymore as we all make it up as we go along, chosing what traditions we want to stick to or not if you know what i mean? xx
