H2B just text me from work ...........great news, he's finally asked his mate to be bestman and he's said yes! HOORAY! Only took him 3 months to ask him. Apparently he's been dying for h2b to ask him lol. Along with 3 other mates so they will be disappointed although two will be asked to be ushers.

Anyway, they have decided they want to do the stag do in September this year ............we're getting married in May next year.

Who does the stag do (or hen do) 8 months before the wedding?

He says it's because Krakow is nicer in September!

    What are your thoughts?

Oh jodie b .........all I can say is ......MEN!!! I don't know whether to laugh or cry it's so ridiculous!

Do not allow him to do it the week before! I thought the norm is approx 6 weeks before so that it's not when you are at critial planning and organising stage and not too close that if his eyebrows get shaved off they don't grow back in time.

Lol - they just have no idea do they!

It's like they're on their own little crazy planet and have no concept of how weddings should be planned. To give him credit he is trying to help with the things I will delgate to him and he certainly has an view on what he likes and wants for the day. He's even thinking about the honeymoon which isn't even on my radar right now.

Where do you think your h2b will end up going for his stag? xx

Oh dear. Barcelona was touted as and idea for h2b but sounds like they're now going for Krakow (it's cheaper than London believe it or not). They also considered Manchester or Brighton. My BIL did Brighton. Men always leave things to the last minute to organise but it'll just be my luck that his best man organises Krakow for September. I still can't believe 8 months before we actually get married! Who does that? xx

yay, on him choosing th best man. I wish my h2b would pick and ask his one!. I think he was hoping his sone would come back into his life so h2b could ask him. (son will now be 23 I think, but they've not spoken for nearly 7 years when h2b and ex split up). Failing that I htink he was going to ask his cousin who alought lives on the isle of man he is still quite close to - but he can't get the time off work :( I don't think he'll end up having one! lol

Lol - the only bit of forward planning he seems to be doing. I'm not sure he's very good at getting the priorities for this wedding quite right. Stag do and honeymoon appear to be his focus.

jodie b - maybe if you use a cattle prod h2b will sort the stag out (on a date you approve of)

ClareE - I really hope h2b gets his bestman sorted very soon, it'll work out I'm sure, these things always have a way of working themselves out.

What would they all do without us eh?

well if h2b doesn't sort his best man he may end up with no stag do so that's one less thing to organise lol ;) x

My H2B is having 4 nights abroad a month before (it keeps getting longer, lol) so it will be winter when he goes. I'm not too fussed to be honest, I understand it's a right of passage. The only concern I would have about it being 8 months before the wedding would be if he had a second smaller do just before the wedding as this is what my H2B would do (still might) but I will put my foot down I think. He's already having an extravagant tag do so he can't have 2 ;) He does this with birthdays too, he HAS to do something both weekends. Its a birthDAY not a birthMONTH lol, xx.

Lol - you both gave me a giggle.

It will certainly save you some cash ClareE.

Blushingbride2b - I have to put my hands up and own up to have a birthWEEK lol. They were my worries exactly though, i know he will end up doing a smaller stag do and 2nd party when I have my hen do if he goes in September, that's just not fair, I will have a bridezilla moment I think if he does that. I will have to try and convince him that September is a really really bad idea. My argument at the moment will be that all leave for him at work is cancelled from the Jubilee weekend until mid-Sept for the Olympics anyway, that means he'll be working on our anniversary of getting together so he'll have to make it up to me so there is simply no time for him to do a stag weekend abroad in September (plus it's his birthday at the end of September).

    xx

Atleast if he has his stag do a while before the wedding, he cannot be distracted by planning it on the lead up to your big day.
saying that.. men are always distracted lol

He will always find something else to be distracted by, I think in September he'll be looking at going for promotion so he'll be preoccupied with that (my BIL did exactly the same to my sister in the 7 months before their wedding last year!).

September is really inconvenient anyway for us.

I've told him today to discuss properly with me first before committing to anything as it needs to fit around everything else we have on, him having to work the whole of June, July, August and first half of September with no leave allowed is not helping with the planning of our wedding.

What's the earliest people have stag/hen do's normally?

My h2b is having his in May so 4 months before. I don't think it really matters when it is personally although 8 months does seem quite a long time, it will go a lot quicker than you think lol

Lol - I must say, I do think 8 months before is the most ridiculous thing I've heard. I really hope I can convince him to do it closer to the day and on the same weekend I have my bash (so I'm not worrying about him cos I'll be having too much fun). You h2b's 4 months is reasonable.

Anyone else have their h2b's doing it early? xx

H2B is going to ask one of his mates tonight to be one of the ushers, he'll be out drinking with Bestman and Usher and "planning wedding stuff" which to me means planning the stag do!

Mine is 5 months before the wedding.H2b works 12 hr shifts days and nights alternatively 5 days on and 4 days off for 7 weeks and then has 19 days off straight. We have to have the hen night on his 19 day break as i am having a week in Crete so he can look after our daughter. He will only have one more 19 day break after this before the wedding which is when he will have his stag.
So although it seems a little early it is necessary-i will have a night out locally about a month before thoogh too! xxx

Krakow is great, my partner and I had our first holiday just the two of us there feb last year. It was very quiet but thats why it was cheap for us. Tell him to check out a pub called Szynk in the Jewish quarter, was our holiday local and they were soo much fun, kept giving us free drinks and beers made by friends because they don't get a lot of tourists!

My OH has just been on his stag week 6 months before our wedding, simply because the flights were cheaper, I can't see the problem with it...the longer before the better, more time to recover from anything that goes wrong.x

Thanks FitchMcCombe - I'll mention it to him.

H2B will be working solid over the Olympics and from the Jubilee weekend, all the way through to mid-Sept so I really want some time with him after, just to have quality time and also to sort some of the wedding stuff out (police not allowed any time off). Think he's coming round to the idea of having the stag 4 weeks before the wedding xx
