Wedding Forum - Walking down the aisle - what order?...

H2B and I have already decided to go for the traditional English order walking down the aisle - me first followed by MOH with flower girl and then BM.

However, I was torn between the two at first and ended up not really bothered so gave H2B the chance to decide and he wanted traditional English so that's what we're doing.

My sister decided to do American style, BM's first and her last with Dad - save the best 'til last and build the suspense and anticipation.

Traditional English style means your BM's can ensure your train is all arranged properly as you walk down. American style I can see the argument for saving the best 'til last but you could have an untidy train as you make your grand entrance.

I'm just curious as to what everyone else is doing or thinking of doing - just out of interest.

Now you've got me thinking, they need to sort out my dress but I also want them to go first.

Think if mum is still with current flavor of the month will have his daughter as flower girl (just coz I want one) go first then me then two bridesmaids.

I love the idea of my FG scattering rose petals in front, followed by me and Dad, then my sis and my best mate to ensure train is all tidy. Only thing is my niece-to-be (FG) will only be coming up to 3 and a half when the time comes so I'm not sure if that is old enough to walk down the aisle and do what she needs to do at the right sort of speed without some form of supervision.

My sister last year had 3 FG's, they were 9, 7 and 5 and the youngest needed to be supervised down the aisle by the older two.

So I will need to decide if I send my FG down first or if I have her follow me with my sister holding her hand, or she could hold my train (if she is no longer at the nose picking stage - saw her last week and she is digging out some serious bogeys and then coming in for cuddles - GROSS!).

I still have 13 months to decide.

What do you think?

i will be going last hopefully the train will keep itself straight as i drag it along lol but it just gives every 1 a chance (6 bms) to get in and then be seated i suppose but we are having christine aquilera "i turn to you" played which means alot to me as it describes h2b to the T so gives people a chance to hear the music too xx

I think i want my bridesmaids behind me because i need my moh to help with my train, but i have two bridesmaids aged 2 and 4 so i'm a bit worried about them getting down the aisle and not wandering off lol, so i might have to have my moh hold their hands and just hope my dress will be okay lol xx

I'm not too fussed about my train as the BMs can always sort it out at the alter. I think they'll go first then me my dad and my son as my two boys are taking me to my third boy. Also if my daughter is walking I want her to toddle down the isle with me x

im going last for the exact same reason as the one above.. i know the day is all about the bride and groom but the people that are taking part in the wedding cause you have asked them will compleatly be outshined if you go first ... let them have there bit of limelight to :) xx

My bridesmaid wanted to go behind me, cos she was nervous about walking down, but tbh I wish I'd made her go first, as cos I was first, didn't get any pics of her or my page boys walking down :-(

I always imagined my BM's going down behind me but like others have mentioned - at least they'll have their lil moment in the limelight aswell so will check dress is ok before they go and thenme and my Dad will come in last... :) xx

Nice to hear everyone's thinking on this lol. My sister is not fussed, I wasn't particularly fussed so I'm happy with H2B's decision. It was actually my best mate who asked me what my thinking was as she was nervous about going first and so is really pleased my H2B has decided he'd like me first.

Still to decide what to do with the FG but we have time to see what she'll be like.

I am chief bridesmaid at my friends wedding next year and she is going kind of American! The bms and flower girls and page boy are walking down before her, however I will walk behind her so that I can sort out her train before she walks down the aisle and then she can also easily pass me her bouquet when she gets down to her h2b :) xx

My train will be a mess though if I send BM's down before me and Dad. Have to take a 90degree corner at the beginning of the aisle.

I'm going last... I want my partner to see our beautiful little girls all dressed up in their finary first and then see me :) xx

Oooh, the bestman walking down the aisle, that's new? I haven't seen that before during the processional, only the recessional.
