After finding out about the whole sand, wine box and rose ceremonies I went looking to see if there were any other ceremony ideas and came across this love locks thing and thought it was really sweet. I'll put a link to where I found it on my wall cause it has a video showing what you do with them!

    This is from the site-

"This ceremony idea has that something a little bit different.
Love locks are a custom by which sweethearts lock padlocks together and affix them to a chain joined together in a never ending circle. A unique ceremony idea using heart shaped padlocks with your names and special date engraved on them.

As your hearts are now joined together in love, so will these padlocks be locked together forever. Lock the padlocks together and throw away the keys at your favourite place, Or send them on a journey, tie them to helium balloons to be released into the sky. The locks can now be placed on the brides wrist for the rest of the ceremony. This wedding ceremony idea will leave you with a beautiful memento of your wedding day."

I'm planning to talk to the wedding coordinator at some point and see if they can fit this into our ceremony. H2B and I aren't good with talking in front of loads of people so will be going for fairly short and standard ceremony, so I think this would be a wonderful way to add to it, to make it a bit longer and to have some visual symbolism of our marriage!

I just hope no one will take the idea of locks the wrong way. :/

What do you lot think? :)

Ooh, that's a good way to make it unique!

That site does sell the locks but I think cause it's an Australian site they don't deliver world wide :(

I have found another site that does them though!

We went on honeymoon to Beijing, and when we were at the Great Wall there was a chain with loads of padlocks on it engraved with names and dates from weddings ... if only we'd known we would have brought one with us!

We been chatting and we are going to have the identity bracelets engraved with the wedding date, and locked with a heart shape lock, or a heart shape charm on them.

just something to symbolise our love etc, buckets 99p at B and Q lol

Ah no, this isn't the kind where you lock them onto something and leave them there. I don't get that and think it's a bit silly, it looks such a mess in my opinion. Don't know how they can justify selling those for loads of money.

This is where you get two individual locks and lock them together and throw away the keys and keep the two locked together locks. It does explain that in my first post...

I took this photo in Prague. Couples write their names on one lock and add it to the railings, I thought it was sweet.

Someone should start a business round there recycling metal - that's a lot of keys that probably get sentimentally thrown in the river ;) Xx
