Feels good to have everything sorted!

When giving notice we didn't even get taken in separately or have any questions asked about each other! Just gave the info needed for the notice, paid and all was done.

Got home and called the registrars for the district we're getting married in, they pulled up our giving notice info, asked me what time we wanted for the ceremony, though they only had 11am 1pm or 4pm, so we went with 1pm.

They're sending us the pack in the post and that's all sorted until closer to the day now!

All went a lot smoother than I expected. Was a bit concerned cause the district we're getting married at wouldn't let us book a registrar until we'd given notice and I was panicking they wouldn't have any registrars for our date! (being Easter weekend next year) But it's all done and official now!

Can give out our save the dates at our joint engagement party with my SIL2B, MIL2B's birthday and IL2B's Wedding anniversary celebrations on the 14th!

This planning malarkey is going well lol.

I was panicking about this as we got a letter from registry office where we want to get married but we live in a different district so have to give our notice to another district.

the letter said that if we havent given our notice by end of August our provisional booking that we had to pay £20 for would be lost.

so i said to h2b even if we give our notice within that time how does the district we want to get married in know we have given notice?

also LegoBride when you rang the district up you are getting married in did you have to pay full amount there and then for the registry fees? i know you do when you book your appointment to give notice!

    xxx

Stacey, I paid £70 deposit to the registry office in the district where we are getting married, and have to give notice at our local office between 6th May 2012 and sometime in Aug 2012 (we get married on 5th May 2013). I have to pay £67 when we give notice at our local registry office, for the marriage licence I guess. Then we pay the £390 balance to the other registry office a couple of months before the wedding.

If you're worried I'd just let the office who are marrying you know when you have given notice at your local registry office xx

Stacey, We provisionally reserved a spot with the registrar in the district we are marrying in but they said we had to give notice in our local district, which we did (at a cost of £33.50 each) our local district then notified the registry office in the district where we're marrying that we had given notice. We were then sent a ceremony pack thing with what we wanted for the ceremony vows, witnesses etc which needs to be confirmed 2 weeks before the wedding.
We picked up our certificates to give to the registrar about 2 weeks after giving notice to confirm that we can legally marry.
Our fee's are £370 but as of yet we havent been asked for any sort of deposit, i guess we just pay it when we meet with the registrar.
i'd give your notice soon as you can then call the district your marrying to confirm thats what you've done, but your local registry office should notify them too. Hope all goes ok xx

Stacey- We tried to provisionally book but they wouldn't let us until a year to the day. So when we'd given notice in our local district I then called the one we were getting married at and they were able to pull up our notice on their system and look at it. I didn't even have to pay a deposit. And don't have to pay anything until closer to the wedding.

We didn't need to pay for the notice till today when we went to give it

Once the 15 days or whatever it is the notice is up for, like sally said you have to go pick up your certificate that you need to give to the district who're marrying you.

But as long as you let them know you've given notice they should be able to look it up.

Well you've got plenty of time till August so I'm sure you won't lose your date :) I was able to make an appointment to give notice at least two weeks in advance. So no worries :D

Thanks for your help guys its much clearer now but LegoBride your right it is far too complicated.

We cant give our notice until after 21st June so going to book an appointment nearer time to give our Notice in our District then will ring up the district we are getting married in to confirm we have given notice and then ask them when we need to pay the fee to them!

We have already paid £20 to reserve date and time though as thats good. its all exciting.

    xx
