The quote from my venue so far is £8522..the food is almost £4000 of the cost, the current menu is £40 ph and alot of whats on it half my guests probabley wont have a clue what it means...LOL Im looking at 61ph for food and drinks but want to get this down..
I want something less traditional than the usual 3 course meal, still having a starter and dessert but possibley with a Gourmet BBQ for the main course instead of a dinner?
Going to see the owner of the venue today to try and negotiate on the price and discuss the menu to get the price down on that but not sure what sorts of food to ask for??

if its £40 per head and the food is costing £4,000, does that mean you are having 100 guests?
I can resist anything but temptation

Hi we wanted something different as well, and have opted for a buffet style meal but the waiters will bring the food out on trays to people instead of queueing for food - we have 9 canapes, 5 mini-mains (guests can have 2/3) and 5 mini desserts on afternoon tea tiers as well as wedding cake - without drinks it comes to 27 + VAT (£32.40 total) per head, and with welcome drinks, table wine and toasting drinks it's about £55 per head including VAT - negotiate heavily on your catering, by changing the menu options about and negotiation, we got our initial quote down by nearly 30%
