    Hi everyone

We're having a BBQ/hog roast buffet style meal for our wedding breakfast and the new venue we're going to look at has quoted for the full 50 guests. I remember reading somewhere that it's only recommended that you cater for 80% of your guests to avoid wastage. Has anyone else seen or been told this? If its true then it would save us £300!

    Thank you!

I would aim to cater for about 75% for your evening food as most of those people would have eaten a few hours before at the wedding breakfast.

My venue has a minimum spend of £14 per person and min numbers of 80% or £12 per person and 100% of numbers. Personally I'm going to give them slightly less numbers than has rsvp'd as there is always people who don't come plus there is always waste so 80% will be plenty xx

I've heard something similar before. Were having a buffet for 80 but we've invited about 100 people (i keep inviting people lol) I'd never cater for all because some people won't a lot/at all so would be a waste x

I thought that was just with evening buffet that you catered for less but I've not really looked into buffet for wedding breakfast so couldnt comment. If it were me I'd probably go 100% for the actual meal incase people havent eaten, different with evening buffet as people most likely will have had the normal meal and still feel full, or would be coming in the evening where they should really have had a meal before heading out x
