hi guys, i know this thread has been done before but I've searched and I cant find it? I had a wedding poem chosen (to put in invites to ask for money rather than gifts) but now I cant decide if I want that one so was wanting some more ideas. If anyone can find me the old thread please can you bump it for me? If not anyone got a good poem i can pinch? Thanks

Im sure i remember other ones but bumped a couple for you :)
There are so many people out there who will tell you
what you can't do.
What you have to do is turn around and say, "watch me"!!

I found these just recently!
On this day, Our Special Day We do not know how to say We have a house and contents too So presents really wouldn’t do But if a gift you’d like to bring Then money would be just the thing We hope this does not cause offence In our case it makes more sense.
--
We are sending out this invitation, And hope you will join our celebration. If to send a gift is your intention, In modesty we would like to mention, We have already got a kettle and a toaster, Crockery, dinner mats and coasters, So rather than something we have already got, Please give us money for our savings pot. But, most importantly, we request, That you turn up as our wedding guest
---
We haven't got a gift list, for all of you to see, Because as you all know we never can agree! But if you'd like to help us, start our married life, cash or high street vouchers, would save a lot of strife.
----
We've been together a few years now; We have pots and pans and linen and towels; We have glasses and toasters, really quite a few; So instead of more gifts, we suggest this to you; If it doesn't offend and it won't send you running; What we would really appreciate is quite simply money.
-----
We lived quite a while with all our pots and pans and as we don't need homely gifts we've got another plan.
We know its not traditional but an awful lot more fun to have items on our wedding list to help us catch some sun.
So if you'd like to give a gift and send us on our way a donation to our honeymoon would really make our day!
------
We’ve been together for a while, And have a lovely home. There are not too many things, That we don’t already own
So please don’t be offended, And please don’t think we’re brash. But if thoughts were on a present, We would much prefer the cash.
But the choice is really up to you, And we would like to say, That the best gift we could receive, Is you, here, on our special day.
the most important gift to us is to have you share our day, but should you want to contribute in some other way, then to help us on our honeymoon in our choosen paradise, a little extra spending money would be really nice.
to save you looking shooping or buying, here's an idea we hope you like trying.
come to our wedding to wish us both well, and make some use of our little wishing well.
just put some money into a card, now make a wish... see, that wasnt hard.
now we have saved you all of the fuss, we hope you will come and celebrate with us.
unsure in our minds of what we may need, not wanting to offend or show any greed, we have the essentials to be living in sin, a kettle, a toaster and even a bin, so, cash is requested in order to proceed, with the purchases we will eventually need.
hope that helps hun xx

We are doing a money poem and its:
We know its not traditional its not the way its done instead of wedding presents we'd like a bit of fun please dont think we're rude please dont take offence we do not want to upset you thats not the way its meant we've lived together for a while and all the bills are paid we've got our plates, our pots and pans our bed is already made so if you'd like to give a gift to help us celebrate some money to enjoy ourselves we would appreciate

We really hope you join us on our special day, You'll make our memories complete in every single way, We do not have a gift list as we know you'll understand, Our home and contents are complete with pots and plates and pans. But should you really want to give something And celebrate this way, A gift of money would be lovely for a rainy day.
About to marry the man of my dreams
Bring on 15/9/2012!!

For our wedding we used:
We've been together for a few years now and have a lovely home. There are not too many items that we don't already own. So please don't be offended and please don't think we're brash If your thoughts were on a present we'd much prefer *the cash. The choice is really up to you and we would like to say We hope you come and enjoy yourselves On this our special day
* we changed the cash to 'Thomas Cook vouchers or cash' as we'd booked our honeymoon with them (we finished up getting all cash lol).

We want to put a money poem in our invites too, but we also want to attach a small gift list for those who would rather buy a gift, so just need to find /amend a poem to include both! Does that sound greedy?
