Wedding Forum - Tried on my dress last night... **UPDATED**...

...and it doesn't bloody fit!!!!!

and i mean, it REALLY doesn't fit. there is a 3inch gap and no amount of breathing in could get the zip up :(

i knew i'd put on weight, but never thought it was this much. i mean, my baby was only 3 months old when i got it, so i thought the weight i'd put on would maybe balance out what i had lost...ish.

i've never had to lose weight for anything before and i don't do well under pressure lol i love carbs. my favourite foods are; pasta, pizza, potato and bread.

this is going to be hard :(




i also tried it on with a hooped underskirt under the net underskirt and it looks great. once i have dyed the net underskirt pink, i will sew a hoop onto it

Can you get the zip changed for a lace and add a modesty panel? It might be tough to loose a full 3 inches in 6 months without doing a pretty severe diet. Good luck hun xxx

babe am in nearly same situation this is mine... but there is things to be done like a modesty panel or makin lace go further down x

Oh also limit your dairy, fat free yogurts etc are fine but you'd be surprised at how much fat is in milk and cheese so have just little amounts of these a day (remeber it is important for calcium so don't cut it out completely :) ) xxxx

Ok there is something you can do if you cant lose the weight in time, so dont panic or give up hope.
You can have your back zip lowered. as in the picture, if you have a slightly V shaped back , and the zip is moved further down, it should work. And its minimal work for any seamstress so shouldnt take long so wont cost too much.
Heres a before and after picture. hope this helps. It only has to be a very slight V, but as you can see in the 2nd picture, its just below the shoulder blades and has made a better fit.

i know 3 inches sounds a lot but you can lose it. if you love food like that try doing slimming world as you can eat that sort of food on it. i didnt need to lose much but i lost a stone in 3 months. i know that doesnt seem much, but i really didnt need to lose anymore and find the more you need to lose the quicker it comes off if that makes sense.

if you have put the weight on then you can lose it! xx

I managed to lose about 3/4 inches to my waist by wearing a steel boned underbust corset at least once a week (similar to a training corset but not as bad) and also by starting to eat healthier, I am hypoglycemic so its hard for me not to have carbs everyday but I make sure I don't have too much of them, and am fine.

at the minute they are doing a special offer at slimming world its £5 to join and you get the welcome chat and pack and its £4.95 a week for group i have done both the group( which i do now) and i have don't online to bother are good but group is so much better as you have the encouragement and support of your group leader and the rest of the group to i lose some much more going to group then i did with the online version x

kisywisy I've just signed up to WW again - it's 14.95 for the first month then 19.95 a month thereafter. If you dont want to pay, you can log onto my fitness pal and track what you're eating and your exercise there... then you know exactly how much you're eating and best of all it's free x

UPDATE!!

i last tried it on a few months ago and it was at least 2 sizes too small. thought i'd try it on today to give me an idea of just how much i need to lose in 12 weeks...and it fit!!!! well, i could still do with losing some weight or at least toning up the stomach area, but my 10yo managed to do it up with ease!! i'm over the moon!!!!!!!!

i really love the bouquet next to the dress and i'm so glad i decided on a brooch/jewellery bouquet over a flower one.

forgive the fact i have no make up on lol my hair was terrible, so i had to hide it with the veil lol i think i'll be wearing my veil further back on my head on the day, but undecided on that at the moment.

i think dying the underskirt was a waste of time. there are so many layers in the dress and lifting it up to show the underskirt was difficult.



still want to shift the weight on my stomach and arms, but it means i can keep the button up back :)

i've got an appointment for alterations next saturday (was supposed to be changing the back to lace up) but i'm going to keep it and have a bustle put in. i think the bust needs taken in a tiny bit at the very top

Becky once it's altered it's being sent away to be cleaned. It's sooo creased just now!! My veil is too!! I'm hoping hanging it up in a steamy bathroom for a good few hours will take out the creases when I'm over there. Not sure where I can get it steamed since I'm staying in a villa. I really hope it's not as creased as this on the day!! Lol I think when it's cleaned most of these creases will be away and it'll sit they way it's meant to

Thank you, although I haven't actually been dieting or anything the only thing I've purposefully cut out are late night snacks!! Eg crisps when the kids are in bed!! Lol I'm going to try and eat healthier and drink more water!! I'm guilty of not drinking enough!!
