    Hi everyone,
I have just been looking at my wedding date and have realised that we are planning on getting married on a Saturday during a bank holiday weekend. I have a small budget for my wedding and just wondered whether anyone knew if venues, catering etc. will be cheaper on a bank holiday Friday or Monday than it would be on a Saturday?
I would be grateful if anyone could give me any answers!
    Thankyou!!! xxx

A lot of the venues we looked at said that mid week was cheapest and also that there were minimum number requirements on fridays and saturdays meaning that we would have had to invite more people than we wanted! Our venue doesn't do ceremonies on bank holidays as the local registrar doesn't work those days so other areas/venues might be the same. My guess is that things like caterers would be more expensive as they might have to pay their staff more to work on bank holidays. Your venue should be able to tell you xx

ive looked round quite a lot of venues and ANY day would be cheaper than a saturday....but maybe a bank holiday monday wouldnt be much cheaper? i cant see them charging anymore for the friday of a bank hol weekend as its the monday thats important?
we are getting married at the Inn of Holiday and its a good £4000 cheaper to do it on a weekday inc fri, than on a saturday

I found bank holiday fridays or sundays where there were a bank holiday monday, the same price as saturdays, bank holiday mondays are often treated like normal sundays, which in most venues i looked at were cheaper than fridays or saturdays so would be the cheapest option :)
    (hope that makes sense)

There are so many people out there who will tell you
    what you can't do.
What you have to do is turn around and say, "watch me"!!

I think it varies from venue to venue to be honest. In some places, it is cheaper but in others, they charge the same as if it were a saturday and would probably have stipulations added to them such as minimum numbers or minimum spend etc. That's why we are getting married on a Thursday, no minimum spends, no minimum numbers and some places have even waived room hire charges - plus we are getting married in November.
Best thing to do is shop around and ask loads of questions xx

Our venue doesn't do the BH discount on the Saturday, only on the Monday (usually Sunday rate). We're getting married the Jubilee weekend however but the discount is only applied on the Tuesday for the double bank holiday, not the Monday - we're getting married on the Sunday too so you might want to look into this option maybe? :-)

Thankyou guys, I will ask the venues when I start looking. It has to be on a weekend as family cant get time off during the week and kids will be at school. My dad also works offshore all winter and is only home in summer so are having to have it in the summer months so he can be there :) xxx

We are getting married on a friday and the bank hol weekend (a year before your date)
Our venue do minimum numbers for a saturday only so by getting married on the friday we are able to invite less guests, which we wanted and not be charged more.
August will always be summer hols so dont worry about the kids.
Our family and friends are loving the idea as 1 day off work means a long weekend for them

we booked a bank hol weekend n didnt realise it at the time n i dont think venue price was any different to a normal saturday but we have found we've ended up paying more for some things as we have been told that bank hol weddings are more popular- not sure if thats true or just another excuse for suppliers to hike up prices?

Thanks guys. I will try and find out when I talk to venues. If it's too expensive I will just have to change it to the next weekend! xx
