hi all looking for some advice my h2b and best man are sat here checking out suits, but we have found some on line for the whole tails suit, cravat, shoes, waistcoat and shirt for 75 pound each with grooms suit free only problem is its all done online, wereas suits in our area are 90 pound each and no grooms suit free, do you think its a risk ordering on line?

You could always go and get them measured in a shop (individually so they dont cotton on) and order online? Im not stretching to suit hire, H2B will be in uniform so we are just going to go and buy matching shirts and ties for everyone.

I wouldn't order online in case it arrives and doesn't look as good as you imagine bacause you wouldn't have saved anything as you'll end up going and getting th ones for £90 as well! x

I went to a place near me and the suits were £75 each with grooms free if your have 4 or more suits. Have u shopped around hun? We phoned about 20 different places and went with the one that did the best deal.

my H2B is having the same problem. he has found a site which is also a shop near us but cant got to see anything till sat! but this place had no offers but we have found one near us that if u hire 4 suits u get the grooms free! but need to see if that includes a 2 year olds part of suite too. as we are buying trousers shirt and shoes else they will get ruined!! best bet is to look around see if you can bargain with them too

I definatley wouldnt order online as the good thing with a shop is even though the men get fitted 6 wks b4 if they put on or lose a little weight in that time they will swap it jus before the wedding!

Definately recommend Moss Bros, I've ordered material samples from them to check right colours before hand etc etc and they are really helpful... Plus at the mo they've got the deal on of groom goes free if you order about 4 or 5 suits - cant remember how many exactly. They are really good quality suits as i know the suit jacket OH has opted for is £350 alone for one and altogether its coming in at £550 ish for all the suits, cravats, waistcoats etc etc x

I wouldnt go online its risky if they dont fit! We went to slaters great price and we got one free as we bought 5 i think we had to just pay insurance onthe one that was free i believe it was around £6.50 - Total for tails for us was £398 x

Have you got a Greenwoods near you? We got our suits from there, and they were very reasonable. They tend to have a lot of choice and you can 'dress' the model online so you get an idea of what it'll look like. Instore they always tend to have offers on as well. When we visited, all suits and shirts instore were half price!!

the risk when ordering online is,they may get to you in plenty of time but you have to get them back to them in a set amount of time and if they say they have not recieved them in time or not at all you will have a very big bill to pay.

We have had a trip round them all and come back to green wood s with a discount coz we fluttered our eyes. Most were about the same price, same deals, bla bla bla. What we struggled with was the design of waistcoats in the colour we wanted, some shops didnt have it, others were minging

we have decided on all 5 men in same suits, and ties, and then h2b and page boy in simela waistcoats to match me and fg. The other boys will match BMs.

Ooh need to pay deposit on that today, thanks for reminding me!

    I'm now a married woman
    I have a gorgeous husband
    Whats to do now
Theres no more wedding planning to do

As a guy on here, I hope that I can offer some schadenfreude on this cold January evening.:-)

Please, don't order online. Sizes do vary from tailor to tailor, so it really is best to try on before you buy. Also, check the cloth. Is it wool/wool/linen mix? Or is it the dreaded polyester/rayon? If it is the latter, and it is a summer wedding, then your H2B and BM will melt! Also, we're all built differently, so he has to see if he likes the general cut of the suit. Same with his best man. You can go and spend £500-£600 on a suit, but if it dosent fit well.......

Also, give serious thought to,buying a suit that you can wear on all occasions, as opposed to hiring. I'm seriously considering going to somehwer like M&S. They do lovley suits/jackets and trousers in there. Also, as someone else has mentioned, moss bros is worth a shout.

In short, do whatever you wish, but please, avoid the online route. Its a bit like buying a house without viewing it first.

Finally, don't go to the high street and get measured up, only to take the guys business away by ordering online. Do bear in mind that thenguy in store is giving you his time, so bear that in mind.

    That's good advice Clive

We have ordered five suits today with all the extras including the shoes. One suit was free. Total was £382. The shops are called 'Formal affair' and are all around the Midlands, two in South Wales and one as north as Sheffield.

I'm having an issue with suit hire too, the total amount of the suits (h2b, 2 x bm, 2 x usher, 3 x page boys) are gonna take a huge amount of our budget.
Do the ushers have to be in the same? Or do you think it would look just as good if they were in they wore normal suits but we coordinated with matching ties etc?
I'm just not sure! Also on another note, a friend in Canada said that it is wedding etiquette that the brides brothers were the ushers? Anyone lese heard this as we've not asked my brothers to be ushers!!!
