my h2b is having his bestfriend emma as an usherette (shes nice and not the problem) problem is i dont know what to dress her in! im not wanting to add to the exspence of ANOTHER kilt hire! he surgested her tartan dress which is like thigh high and RED!!!! its a purple themed wedding!!! so i told him right off for that! now dont know what to do i want to make her look like an oldmaid but i cant be that crule so i was thinking a long black skirt black heels white blouse and try and get her a purple tie or tartan tie but then she will look to diffrent! id prob be happier if she just didnt turn up because she's gonna look sooo diffrent and out of places and again get all the attention on our day! all im gonna here from my family is how we had a femail usher ( i know this sounds really selfish but iv never had a day dedicated to my happieness and i dont want the attention to be on anything but us! i know that sounds wrong anyone got any ideas how to get over my vantiy? i think because i never thought id ever get married and now im just so happy! HELP!!!!!

I don't really understand the problem but regarding the outfit - what colour tartan is your h2b wearing? Put a rosette or sash of this tartan on her if you don't want her in a full tartan.
We have a best woman and she'll wear something similar like the groom. Don't know yet.

What about what you have suggested, black skirt and white blouse but add a plaid in purple with a purple brooch? Cheap to hire.

I was my dad's best woman a few years back. he was in a kilt and I had a corset specially made in tartan silk dupion to match. Wore it with a black women's evening suit with a silk cummerband.
I say a few years back, it was like 10 years ago when I was 14, but I still have the corset and wear it for special occasions (and Halloween quite frequently as part of my Scottish witch from Macbeth costume)

how much of a budget do you have for it it? you could buy some purple plaid and do one of 2 things .... you could have made /or get a crafty sewing freind to make a very simple shift dress in the plaid, or option 2, is to get a basic black dress and then have the plaid wrapped round her like the traditional sash that trails down the back maybe? then she would have the plaid to match her in but not so over the top that she would detract from you and you OH xxx :)

when we were going to have my h2b's friend she was going to wear similar to the bridesmaids, all though she is grooms woman she won't steal the day from you at all, everyones eyes will be on what you are wearing :-) or else if that wasn't the case you wouldn't have bridesmaids and dress them nicely. Do you get on with this girl, my suggestion is go shopping with her and see what she likes then you have the full reign of what she wears x x x good luck sweetie x x x

thanks kirsty ann but i went to school with her and i have just bever got on with her unfortunitly! but to the same point my bestie is petes usher and i dont ask him to make time for him and he fits on the right catagory! i already have 5 bms and no room for one more so she had to be dude for the day! (im a weardo i prefer the company of boys! iv been a tomboy all my life if my m8 chris wasnt there then i hung with my big bro this wedding is gonna be the most girly i will ever act in my whole life! i just dont get bitching and pretending to be friends when i hate people (the girls in work are all like that) i dont get it!
