me and h2b discussed our budget for wedding last night, i think he had a sneaky look at my lists, were my budget was over £6,000. The discussion ended in our budget being £3.800 as he does not want to go into debt for wedding, if he has to go into debt for something he d rather it be a holiday for us both, i have now got cut down on things but im not sure wot to leave, i have booked venue for ceremony, venue for party as we are only having evening party and registra, wot shud i book next .............

What's the next most important thing to you? I mean, do you really want to spend money on photographer or have you someone who could do that for you? Ditto flowers and cake and invitations etc - could you do a lot of that yourself?

Definitely think about what resources you have available to you, my mum is making our cake, cousin our cupcake favours, brother designed and printed our invites etc...also have a think about your guest list and see if there's any way you can rationalise this as it really makes a difference - each day guest at ours is costing about £40 per head inc the toasting drinks and table wine!

I'm in the same boat my bloke is exactly the same and I cant blame him for that
u need a wedding dress depending where u go can take up 2 6mths to make and sort out, plus finding the one,
bridesmaids/ page boys, picking them out, guests lists
I have a lot of things and people doing things for me and my blokes designing our invites which makes things easier x

I too am trying to stretch my budget as far as possible, and have found a good way to do it is lots of Ebay and lots of DIY. why pay someone loads of money for something that you can do yourself?
like table decorations etc. i am also making my bridesmaids dresses, and bouquets, even the buttonholes. also the cake. anything i CAN do i am doing, and then that leaves extra cash for paying for the things i cant do.

micky....just as a matter of interest, how many guests at your wedding? £3,800 is higher than my budget but then i only have 24 guests.

I'm thinking of also buying fake flowers for everything, not as nice but I got a friend on the book of face who does then and the beautifulplus she does them so cheap, costing me 50p for button holes single £1 double children's flowers r £5-10 and she does tiaras flower girls head bands, anything u want she will try to make at the cheapest possible price,

    It's doable.
2nd hand or china dress, hog roast, registry office, celebrate on a weekday, no flowers, get all skilled friends and family and do lots of diy.
And do you really need bms or fancily dressed fgs and page boys? If you really want them they could buy their own outfits but ofc let them have choice.

Our budget is about the same.

All of this advice is good, i have my sister making all of the stationairy (it doesnt look difficult, we have looked at designes and put different ones together). Bridesmaids are contributing to their own dress (I am buying really nice dresses that they are likely to wear again). I have an uncle with great cars, he said we can use them (he an my cousin will be driving). I bought my dress in the sale, it was the end of the line and so was reduced (it is still beautiful). A friend of my sister's bought her dress on Ebay for £85 and it was stunning (however i was but off this as you cant try them on 1st). My sister bought fake flowers and kitted out her whole wedding in flowers for £100, they looked great and she has kept some as a keep sake. My friend got her friend who plays lots of instruments to play them down the isle. You can have a beautiful wedding on the budget you have, I would say sit down with H2b and work out who you know that has items or skills that can help you, dont forget anyone who can cook/bake, sew, is in any way artistic or musical, has nice cars etc. Then ask them for help. The other thing we are doing - we set up a free weding website on on the 'gift list' section we have listed everything we would like for our wedding, and we have asked for contributions to those things. The guest makes a contribution into my paypal account, and I (not other guests) can see who has contributed what so I can write thank you cards. The Idea has been received very well and we already have contibutions of over £800. If you want to know about the free website, Ill post a link to ours so you can see what I mean.

Good luck, you dont have to spend mega amounts, also get on the swap shop thread and see if there is anything you can swap to save money. Good luck, sorry its such a long post, I was just really excited to try to give you ideas x
