Right, wondering if someone can give me some pearls of wisdom?
Basically i have 2 children, and have been diagnosed with pcos early last year.
H2b and I are planning to ttc number 3 after the wedding, the plan had been that i would stap taking the pill at the end of january and use condoms for a couple of months until the wedding to give my body a chance to go all natural.
But the thing that really worries me, is that as well as a contraceptive i was put on this particular pill to treat the side effects of the pcos. I get quite bad acne breakouts which this pill has really really helped with. I was also getting hot flushes that were literally making me feel sick, and these have been controlled as well.
I am so worried that if i come off the pill as planned i will come out in a break out in time for my wedding!
I plan on making an appointment with my gp to discuss this when i get a day off next week, but wondered if in the meantime there was anyone on here who might be able to shed some light for me?

hmmm, personally i wouldnt come off the pill till the weddings over. my skins really bad without it, and if i stop taking the pill the acne's back within a month. i know it sounds vain but i wouldnt be able to stand having the stress of the acne on top of all the other weddng planning etc.. but then thts just me and my skin. plus im quite vain, lol! how quickly does ur skin flare up? have you come on and off this specific pill before?
your doc should be able to help but everyone reacts differently to hormones so he might not be able to say for sure. is there a reason you want to try concieve immediately after the wedding? or is it just an ideal scenario?

Tbh we were ttc in 2010, but then got engaged and decided to wait until after the wedding. I didnt want to leave the age gap too huge, and will already be 11 and 8 years age gap as it is, so really wanted to not put it off any longer, especially as dr already said that it may take longer to concieve due to the pcos.
I havent come off this pill, i have previously had other forms or contraception and anti biotice to treat acne and basically this was the pill i was put on last year following finally getting a diagnosis. So it may not effect it, but i am worried that it will lol.

have a word with your gp about being prescribed metformin, it is a diabetic drug but has been used to treat PCOS in the USa for ten years, and is starting to be used in this country now.
I have diabetes and PCOS and just staterd glucophage, which has metformin in it.

Also i found the body shop tea tree foaming face wash, tea tree face mask etc to be FAB!
I had tried all sorts of other things to treat my acne, all the usual spot face washes etc, and none of them worked, but the bodie shop stuff really helps me.

Another thing an indian friend once told me, and DOES work is ground chick pea flour, mix a little in water and aply to your face, leave for ten minutes. but only do this once every 10-14 days or it dries your skin out, that really does work too.

not sure if this helps you, but worth mentioning i thought

Ohhhh thankyou for that. I have been using the avon professional range, which i have found to be really good. My issue is i think i am just paranoid that it is the pill and not the facial washes etc that has made the difference. I will speak to the dr about the metformin. Thanks.
