We have jst found out that my gran has to go for a triple heart bypass at the middle to end of April so she cannot make the wedding. Also my sister is going for surgery in march so will not be able to come to my full wedding day as she will be too frail ( this I know for certain as this will be the 2nd surgery she has had done for the same thing) so since 2 of the most important people won't be able to be there for the day I feel like I would spend the whole day upset rather than happy. Do you think I'm doing the right thing or should I still go through with it on the date we have already set. The invites haven't gone out yet, and we r thinking about moving it to october of this year. X

I think they'll really appreciate that & you don't want to be sad on your big day!
What about deposits & such? Are your suppliers ok to move your date? Xx

Personally I think that you are doing the right thing... A wedding is about you, your h2b and also about your family and friends celebrating in your happiness... if 2 very important people can't be there due to no fault of their own and you know you are likely to be upset on the happiness day of your life then it's probably better you postpone...

It's not forever and October is only 9months away..

I hope all goes well with your gran and sister :-) xx

Thanks ladies - lucky my fiance treats my family like his own so he would be upset at not having them there as well. I've spoken to our photographers and they are happy to keep our deposit and put it on another date once we have decided which date we deffo want. I'm not going to let my gran know that its partly because of her tht we are postponing as she will feel really guilty and she doesn't need to feel any worse than she already does. I'll make up some excuse for her lol. Glad you all agree that we are doing the right thing - just hope my fiances family see it that way. X

I'm sure your fiances family will understand - surely they'd want to do the same if it was 2 members of their side of the family. I'd change if I was in your position x

I'm sure they will understand, weddings are a family occasion and that's two pretty important family members who wouldn't be able to make it if you don't postpone.

Glad your vendors are being so lovely about it, it's a perfectly valid reason to postpone and it's only a few months later!

If you are very close to them and they mean the world to you yes deffo postpone, you would prbs regret it and not hving them there on having them in pictures with the rest of family and friends would upset you, I was suppose to have mine October this year in Scotland, Ive now changed to June 2013 in Lake District lol due to costs, people travelling and my grandad cant travel far due to his back, Ive lost £400 on deposits but I made the wrong desisoin with first weddfing place, and deffo made the right one in the lakes xxxx
