Hi ladies - hope you've all had a lovely Christmas :-)

I was up at my parents for Christmas weekend and obviously the wedding came up. Me and my mum were talking about all sorts and then the whole seating/table plan came up. We're having a hot fork buffet, so I imagine that people will be up and down getting food, so originally the idea of a table plan seemed a bit pointless. However, as both families and friends from either side won't have met before, a table plan seemed like a good idea to try and mix everyone up. Personally, I wasn't looking forward to a table plan mainly because it just sounds like a complete logistical nightmare! And my mum thinks that as people will be getting up and down, they will mingle anyway and by having a table plan, they might feel obliged to just sit where they're told to and only socialise with those on their table.

However, I just had an idea that might solve everything... Instead of a full on table plan, we could assign each side of the family with a colour and then each place setting is assigned one colour or the other (half and half on each table) and then people can choose where to sit, but they will still be mixed up with the other side of the family.

So, what do you think? Does it sound like it would work? Or am I just being plain lazy lol.

    Thanks :-)

    xx

I love this idea so original! Ans I really don't blame you for avoiding the table plan even the thought of it fills me with utter dread!

Thank you ladies! Think we will definitely be doing this (and can now scratch table plan off the to-do list closer to the time!). A further thought is to make name cards for everyone and on each one put either a sunflower (part of our theme) or a purple flower (not sure what kind yet), put them on a table near the entrance with a little sign explaining they need to match the flower on their card with the flowers on the place settings or something like that. This mainly comes from the fact that a few of our friends we've met as a couple so we could split them between the two 'sides'.
