Wedding Forum - Snow White wedding theme...

After watching Dont tell the bride I fell in lovewith the alice in wonderland theme!! But I kind of hinted to h2b and he said it was good but ours is fine as it is.

Which got me thinking...(not good)! I am having a Snow White themed hen do, becuase I was umming and arring about what we could all dress up as, and I wanted it to reflect me/my personality. I decided on Snow White because my Mum used to call me it when I was little...my Mum sadly passed away March 2010 :(

My colours are deep purple and deep cerise pink. I have just googled pink purple and deep RED wedding ideas, and I think it actually looks quite nice. I initially wanted to be head to toe in white...white dress, white flowers with sparkle, white shoes, white veil. But thinking now, if red would be quite nice.

Our ideas so far are....deep red apples for name place card holders, the ones on the top table to be covered in swarovski crystals, tables named after the 7 dwarfs, my main family to be on snow white table, and h2bs on prince charming table, then the top table to be happily ever after, the table plan to be on an oval shaped mirror like the magic mirror and the card post box to be in a shape of a wishing well. More ideas would be greatly appreciated :)

Yeah, I think it would look best done just red and white....but I am trying to put together a mood board now with the pinks and purples to see what it may look like.

In the chinwag thread, we have come up with a couple of ideas...apple name place cards, magic mirror table plan....

Aha, never thought of just red lippy and shoes! Maybe a deep red rather than bright red?x

Theres also the wishing well...which we could haev as a post box...which we were actually doing anyway! The theme could be in there sneakily couldnt it. xxx

I'm not seeing big redness in snow white. I suppose the lippy and the apple are red and the bow on her head is red but her shoes in most pictures I've seen seem to be yellow.

I like the idea of involving red apples into centre pieces, maybe on fancy framed mirrors!

And yes, I have my dress! Pictures in my album. This is where the whole snow white theme has stemmed from really. The lady in the shop said I looked just like snow white as soon as I put it on, and my mum used to call me snow white when she was alive.

Yes would deffo use dwarves names as table names. I am so excited for this theme. It isnt an expensive theme either!!!xxx

Well we were using pinks and purples anyway, and h2b has his heart set on a waitcoat and cravat set that he has seen, so I dont want to go and say I dont want this anymore.

Although if the wedding was only up to me, I would just have white and rose red.

Therefore, I have to incorporate the both...which I am happy with to be honest.

Ooooo go for snow white...that would be easier, and more noticable xx

How about those candles in the shape of apples? They could even double up as your place card holder and be your favour, two birds and all that

or mirrors! mirror mirror on the wall... lol xxx

you could always not bother with favours and have a sweet buffet instead - you could have all sweets in snow white themed colours :o)

well we're having charity favours too so thats why we've gone for pots of jam as the extras, because they were relatively cheap. Can't afford to be spending extra on fancy favours on top of all the other stuff xxx

Sammy!!! H2b suggested toffee apples too! Haha... We are having fun here aren't we! Lol, such a good idea writing on the mirrors in the bathrooms... I will have to ask the hotel won't I! Aha! I wanted props for the disco, so we can have lots of fun now we have a theme to base the props on! Awwww yes! My neice is a flower girl! Oh my, I may just have to look into that! She would love it!!!! As for the centerpeices, we are using the venues free candleabras and dressing them with flowers, but I am sure we can make some woodlands somewhere. How do you think I could introduce the woodland animals? Another thing we have to think about... We have 10 tables, but only 7 dwarves... We want my main family on a snow white table, and h2bs on price charming table... So that's 9, but then we need a top table name... What could it be??? Something significant obviously. Hmmmmm....

You could name the top table 'happily ever after'

My woodland elements will happen like this - centrepieces are antique books (if I can get antique fairy tales even better) tied together with string and dangling from the string mini toadstools. Around the books we will have deer/fawn pottery (mostly from the 50s, typical vintage kitsch) and toadstool terrariums (I'm making them). I am sure some porcelain sqirrels will also find their way on the tables.

I wanted vintage postcards of classic fairytales as pictures for the tables but I am ditching thst idea - can't find the right one. At the moment I'm liking my idea to name all tables after the characters in Little Red Riding Hood and I'll make each character and place it on top of the books. But let's see.

In Jan we'll go and see the venue again and I'll take a few props with me to see how it looks laid out! Hopefully like I imagine :-)

Apple necklace is one great idea - but surely cheaper available. Apples are everywhere!

I am not very keen on bling but I have a swarovski toadstool bracelet my parents gave me a few years ago. It's a red toadstool with a funny face but the polka dots are blingy stones and so is the stem. It's going to be my something old at the wedding I think.

Something like this with an apple?

Aha, just thought, I could have an edible cottage for my sweet buffet centrepeice. Sort of on the lines of the Hansel and Gretel house. What do you guys think?xx

If anyone sees any cute snow white merchandise anywhere, please can you let me know if it is something I could possibly use for my wedding :) xxx

u could also get a mirror but use it as a hanging frame for where ppl can leave wedding day msgs.
u could have a red snow white shaped apple cake with bits of white icing or somethinmg on x
