    Hello ladies.

I'm wondering how you all think it's best to choose a florist. I'm in Liverpool so a big city has loads of places to choose from. I've had a few quotes online/at wedding fairs but before I arrange meetings don't know whether distance from my location/from the venue is a big issue, or whether I should go for one that's recommended, or any real giveaways that'd make the whole thing run more smoothly!?

(It's not quite the same but I was told when buying a house use a solicitor that's local so you can go and check up on them/hand deliver forms, nag in person etc. But I didn't I went for a cheaper one a few miles away and had trouble!)

    Thanks for any advice! xx

Nope, just ask when you make your enquiries if delivery to the venue is included - most florists based in a city will be fine travelling up to around 5 miles or so I'd think then may charge a supplement on top - have you tried the one I sent you details of yet? She's really nice and helpful!

Hello! I'm a florist. Best advice is to book a few consultations with different florists in ur area, see which one suits u best, and who you feel would give u best value for money/ feel most confident with... are u wanting many flowers? for me flowers r a massive part of my wedding but if u are only wanting a simple handtied, most florists do the same basic style x

I've gone with one who was recommended by a colleague, she's great, her bouquets are beautiful and she's reasonably priced - cant complain! I left my job on Wednesday and they got me flowers delivered, from my wedding florist, and that's just confirmed my decision even more x

I went with one that gave me a gerbera as her business card lol
I met the ones recommended by my venue but met the one i went to at a wedding fair and all her work was exactly what i was after, i had already had three consultations and she was my last
Wedding fairs are good places to meet florists - they seem to have quite a few at them - I took all the details of the ones i liked, worked out how much they would cost and went from there
If you can get a recommendation i would definitely try and book a consultation with them

    Hello all!

Sorry for late reply, I was away all weekend with no connection!

Becky - I had totally forgotten that i'd asked you for your recommendation! Had a search through my wall and found it. Thank you! It's a pretty convenient location for me and it's recommended so I'll ring to make an appt asap. Thanks again!

Helz - I only really want top table, bouquets for bride and bm, two wands for flower girls and buttonholes/corsages. Have candleabras for my tables which has taken away a lot of the flowers costs. You're right about feeling confident with my choice. I'll try meet a few people so get an idea of what they'll like as I don't want to worry about whether they'll pull it off!

Nicsquared -I've been disappointed with the lack of florists at wedding fairs. I met one and got quotes which were more or less what i'd be prepared to pay but would like a comparison quote too.

Jill you're sorted then! Lucky you! A nice sample to enjoy too!

    Thank you ladies! xx

The other thing I did although I did it for cakes, was look at other local venues and looked at their lists of recommended suppliers as I found searching on the Internet for cakes and florists not that helpful

I arranged consultations with a few florists and they were all very nice, but didnt have that 'thing' about them. I then went to a big wedding fair and spotted some flowers that were stunning. Ends up she's based very close to my venue which is a bonus. So I booked a consulatation with her and when I looked through her portfolios I just knew she was perfect. She had everything I wanted, had decorated my venue quite a few times, and she listened to exactly what I wanted. She didnt tell me what she thought would be better or try to sway me towards other things. So needless to say, she is the florist we have chosen.

I'd say that you need to have someone that you feel totally comfortable with and can trust

    xx
