    Hi Girls,

I went to a wedding fayre at the weekend to see my cake lady and sample her cakes. So the cakes all sorted and I'm all excited but my mum n sister started looking at the sweetie table and they've convinced me to do that. Now my original idea was to have my cupcake tower and loads of sweets around it in small bowls. This lady charges £50 for the table, the bags, table covers, bowls and wee sweetie scoop things (she has those big martini glasses and fancy jars) she doesnt provide sweets. I am not sure whether to get this lady in or just to buy the stuff myself? What do you guys think?

Also having decided to go with this, I need black and white sweetie ideas. I've got all the obvious ones but I need to find something a bit more interesting than humbugs and licourice....Any ideas?

If I hire this lady the table will have a sparkly stand for the cupcake tower to sit on, damask black n white table cloth (which would go nice with my damask balloons) a couple of martini glasses, 2 big jars, 2 big bowls and a few smaller jars - all with scoops. I think it sounds quite funky, any thoughts?

    hey

sounds nice and dramatic. there are plenty of websites that can do sweets. i got mine from a big cash and carry where the boxes were 2 quid to start and ive still got loads left over.

it depends on what kind of sweets too, we done one recently and had things like white mice, flumps, humbugs, black jacks, lollys, chocolate tools, necklaces etc.

    xx

That sounds like a decent price for all the peripherals and set up etc, so I'd go for it. As for sweets, have you thought about mint imperials, or sticks of rock/rock sweet slices? Blackjacks could be messy, and maybe some of those berry jellies, you can get them in the red and black so maybe you can just get black? I'd go to a cash and carry and see what takes your fancy from the shelves, would work out loads cheaper too rather than getting them from a corner shop!

Thats true, theres a massive cash and carry near me too! I'm thinking white marshmallows, licourice wheels, big swirly B&W lollies, strawberry laces (need a couple of red sweets too :-)) and maybe some white chocolate things too. What a shame they dont do black and white smarties! Although....they probably do black and white jelly bellys....:-)

I suppose it would save me a lot of time and effort if I just booked her, turns out its the same person who is doing my chair covers anyways lol

Thats a good idea, but she's part of the hotel package so dont know if that would work? Our hotel give us the covers n sashes in our package, so wouldnt be paying her directly. Its worth asking though isnt it?

Thats true, I might try and see if theres anything else on her website. She does all sorts of shizzle. I'm very excited today, feel like its edging closer and we are getting our list ticked off slowly :-)

Don't know if anyone suggested these already but on ebay I saw some heart shaped mints in white and there are always suagred almonds and chocolate degrees that come in lots of colours.

Just a sugestion though have you thought of adding silver to the black and white, I only ask as my mum went to this black and white ball once and they had silver highlights and she brougth back pictures and it looked fantastic.

Also it can be easier to find things with silver foil wrappers.

Try a google search I've found a few things that way.

The stand that the lady is letting us use is a sparkly silver stand :-) But our theme is black and white with some red in there too. I am having a lace dress so I'm trying to get some lace in there as well. I kinda want it to look 20's vintage feel :-)
