me again with another dilemma...lol have been looking on the bay of e and have seen some nice shoes that would do for the wedding but they have been worn and are not pristine condition.love the look of them but my h2b says i should buy new ones and not go for second hand.i will prob only wear them the once so wouldnt feel comfortable wasting alot of money that could go towards other things?thoughts please? :-) xx p.s ive not got anything against anyone who buys second hand.im not like that.x
CommentAuthorMrs Brakes
My original wedding shoes were off the bay, bought from a girl who'd worn them on her wedding day. They were really comfy as she'd 'worn them in' for me. I had to buy some more shoes though as these were too high and my brand new shoes are possibly the most uncomfortable things I have ever put on my feet.
Got married 11/11/11.

i dont think its cheap at all, I'd do it if I could find some in my size but you don't see many size 8s on the bay! I can't justify paying loads of money for shoes im only going to wear once - i bought mine for £30 from evans as they were perfect and wide fitting, but now I've had my op on my foot it doesn't swell anymore and they're now too big so going to have to buy more! won't be spending more than another £30 though, just cant afford it! If they're what you want then you get them, nobody will know they're second hand other than you :o) xxx
CommentAuthorkrisw86
i have bought mine of the bay of e second hand as they were only worn for the actual day. they been worn in so in my eyes the previous owner saved me a job and some money lol xx
CommentAuthorplantolana
Personally, i would do it!! Most of the time they will be hidden underneith your dress (if yours is long) and then they wont be worn again! :) xx
I would too but I have wide feet so dont often see them available x

I would and will if I decide to have 'wedding' shoes - planning on wearing trainers at the moment!! xx
CommentAuthorsuzky123
It all depends on how much you love the shoes. Some people can feel a little funny about walking down the aisle in second hand shoes as they are concerned about the specialness of the day. If you are defo happy wearing second hand then go for it. If there is only a small price difference then personally I would pay a tad more to have them new but if the price difference is quite large and you couldnt afford your fave shoes otherwise, then why not? go for it x
cant wait to be Mrs Evans less than 3 weeks woooo

A friend of mine got married last September and is the same size shoe as me. At the end of the evening she gave them to me and said if I wanted them I could have them! They were worn both in Vegas and back here for the London leg of the tour LOL!
Vegas baby!

As the saying goes, Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue & A Silver Sixpence in her Shoe.
They could be your Old or Borrowed depending on how you look at it.

OOOhhhh Jenny! I like that idea. May use that one myself :-)

i have bought 2 pairs of my wedding shoes from the bay of e, the first were brand new from a high street bay outlet and got them for £23 .. £80 instore my 2nd pair were brand new still in box and cost £2.20, however if i saw exactly what i was after and had only been worn once i would snap them up, i know after my big day i'm gonna be wanting someone to have the wear of my shoes rather than bin them xx
CommentAuthorZoe81
I'd definately buy them, I'm thinking of wearing a pair of shoes that I already own. They are the right heel height and I already know they are comfy. I don't wear heels often so would see buying a brand new pair as a bit of a waste of money too!

Its not cheap at all :) I bought a nice flat pair from there last week! still have the label onthe bottom were £55 got them for £13.30 bargin! I would buy them if i was you, no1 is going to see your feet (Thats if your not wearing a short dress) and the BIG plus side you havent got to wear them loads to be comfy.x
CommentAuthorGazza 122
Don't even worry about thinking its 'cheap', no way is it i say go for it and i hope you win the bidding! xxx
CommentAuthorTikobear
Yeah defo go for it, like u said its cheaper and you could spend the money on something else for the day!.
I will be looking on the bay for my wedding shoes as I'm a trainer girl so NEVER wear proper shoes (my bm's won't let me wear trainers for the big day!!!) so cannot justify spending loads of money on a new pair for a few hrs during one day (plan on puttin my trainers on during reception, sneakily when no one is looking!!!!)
Go for it and be proud that u saved some money on the budget!
Happy Bidding :)

sum great feedback from you all...ive just bid and am highest so far..fingers crossed a couple of days too go. it will be my something old. :-) xx
CommentAuthorKaili&James
Would the shoes only be worn once if they were from highstreet and not sold with the 'wedding' label that makes everything more expensive. Could find coloured ones that match theme and then possibly wear them again???
Save money on the shoes to possibly spend it elsewhere too??
CommentAuthormarie08
got out bid :-( not meant to be....if anyone has some different kind of shoes cream or blue size7 give us a tinkle please...x
CommentAuthorsarahwasabride

CommentAuthorBridezilla
Sorry you got outbid. Your shoes just haven't found you yet...but they will :)

My brother got me my shoes, said I could have any I wanted. I would have prob went on the bay but since he was getting them I found a pair in the shops. Ended up getting non wedding shoes, to me they are wedding shoes just weren't in the wedding section for £25. Just get whatever you like.
CommentAuthorLesleys1
I'm not looking at second hand shoes as such, but I'm considering buying a pair of shoes sort of on to irregular choice... It means that I would actually wear them again.
I did actually see the most gorgeous pair f tiffany blue satin shoes, and was going to buy them until I found out the price... £495!!
CommentAuthormrsMcF2b
If you like them then get them :) I was a bridesmaid at my sisters wedding last week and I wore ivory shoes, will be wearing them on my day too

CommentAuthorKaili&James
@ mrsMcF2b Good idea to wear shoes you already have.
Are they going to be your something old??
CommentAuthorsamwiseheart
i bought mine a few months ago for MILs engagment party, and didnt actually have the idea for my wedding till i bought the bridesmaid dresses, no point wasting money that you can use elsewere! buy them! will be fine! xx
CommentAuthorKaili&James
Really like the idea of wearing shoes you already have
At least you know they will be broken in well before you wear them on your big day so your feet hopefully wont feel like they could drop off at the end of the day xx
CommentAuthorsamwiseheart
lol my idea exactly! lol i have awful time breaking in heels! wear ones i know i can last the day in and save that stress! lol, xx
CommentAuthorA.Bird2b
I'd go for the second hand ones, save a bit of money and have them already broken in for you. If I could find second hand ones I liked in my size (I'm a 9 and hate wearing really high heels so I have trouble finding them new let alone second hand) I'd snap them up before I no longer had the option. If the price is good even if you decide against them you haven't lost much and could still possibly buy another pair with what you've saved.
CommentAuthorKaili&James
Might have to start looking for my shoes soon then. Not getting married til 2013 but I have wide feet and finding nice wide fitting heels are a nightmare! I don't usually wear heels so I will need plenty of time to break them in and can wear them around the house little and often is a plan. Will probably take me several months to find some that fit nicely as cant wear peep-toe or pointed and all wedding shoes seem to be peep-toe or pointed :/ xx
CommentAuthorKaili&James
A.Bird2b Im a 7 and find it hard enough with new and used but a 9!! Must be a nightmare!!
CommentAuthorEmbbem-MrsW
All i can ever find is kids shoes! I'm a 2 and 1/2 to 3 at a push. the only bonus is I don't have to pay VAT. so I'll be looking at bridesmaids shoes instead i think
I must be crazy giving myself only 6 months!

Wow your feet are tiny :) I bet thats just as much of a nightmare as finding 7's and 9's though. Do you find it difficult to find more adult styles or is it not too bad? Lucky there are some really nice BM shoes out there nowadays xx
CommentAuthorTikobear
Kaili&James - i have wide feet too and find it a total nightmare to ever find heels I can actually cope wearing for more than an hour! I never wear heels, always flats (trainers/dollies) so I might do what you said and start looking now!!! I am sooo gonna need that extra time to get used to them! LOL

go for it! So much money gets wasted on weddings! Mine cost me £5 second hand and I love them! If your dress is long no-one will see them anyway!
CommentAuthor~feebee~
I paid £25 for mine, brand new from the same shop I got my dress. I class them as a bargain for new ones with diamante on them. I didn't want to pay a small fortune when they are under the dress all day. I would buy off 'the bay' if they were what I wanted only I like to try my shoes on to make sure they fit before buying :)
Finally Mrs Grove :)
CommentAuthor♥Future Mrs Midgley♥
You may have seen that I got my beauties from a charity shop for £3. I could only tell they were worn because they had a piece of confetti stuck to the sole. So I would say no you are not being cheap. You are being thrifty, which is a good thing in my books. x
CommentAuthorlaulyloon
Well....I paid £150 for my shoes and this was only because I saw them and completely fell in love with them....not really because I was happy to pay that for them believe me!! Nevertheless I did pay this for them but I totally agree with all on here, if I could have found similar ones for a bargain price then I would of gone for it. I however know I will wear mine again so hopefully I will get use out of them. Everyone loves a bargain, makes shopping so much more satisfying!!
