Me and my partner are getting married on the 10th march but we have a slight problem,
my partner lost his job this week and it has put a big downer on things, also i was waiting on a large payout from compensation i am owed at the end of november to pay the rest of the wedding off such as the venue and stuff and now that has fell through aswell. To top all of that of a silly women crashed into r car today as we were driving down the road and drove off so now we have to fork out for that when we have no money :(
Im so upset about it all, it all seems to be going wrong this week and i really dont want to move the wedding back :(
    xx

I hate the way family and so called friends can be smug and say i told you so when something goes wrong. Where do they get off by getting joy and gossip at other peoples expense!

What have you booked and signed for so far? Perhaps we could help you look where you could reduce costs to still keep it on the same day?

    - Venue - can you change to have just a buffet instead of a sit down meal? Could you ask for cava instead of champagne?
    - Registrar and Ceremony - can you move your time to 5pm so you only feed your guests once?
    - Flowers - could you have candle centrepieces from somewhere like Matalan or Dunelm Mill instead of flowers? Could you have wooden or silk flowers instead of real ones?
    - Suits - could the ushers wear their own suits and just give them a buttonhole?
    - Bridesmaids - could they have wrist corsages instead of bouquets? Could they buy their own dresses?
    - Your dress - could you get a sample dress? There are lots of sales on right now.
    - Stationery - make a simple but elegant flat invitation that directs guests to a free website.
    - Photography - could you choose a disc-only package for just the ceremony and formal shots? Fewer hours means less money and get your guests to snap away for the speeches, first dance and the evening celebrations.

Just a few ideas - sorry if they're not helpful x

They are great aren't they. What have you booked that is looking too expensive? If you break everything down you may be able to alter and still keep the same date!! x

I just thought of two more that are related...

    - Wedding Cake - buy an iced fruit cake from Asda or Morrisons and decorate it with silk flowers.
    - Dessert - serve your wedding cake as dessert instead of paying for an extra course and the cake going to waste.

    Hope this helps :o)

Thanks for all the ideas everyone. We have decided to keep the same date and change the venue from a church and a hotel reception to a hotel ceremony and reception which will be cheaper and we are going to get married at 4pm and just have a buffet. My h2b had a job interview last week to be a carer and he got the job so we just have to wait for his crb check :) Yayyyy!!! Im going to buy a cake from asda and decorate it myself so hopefully we can afford it now :) xxxx

We are doing lots of the money saving ideas mentioned above. We are also being given some money to help with costs, but still need to save about £2500 ourselves, really hope we manage to do it!

we have a very tiny budget for a wedding darling, but dont worry you will be able to do . look at it this way on the day does it really matter if you have 100 flowers or if you have 20? my bridesmaids dresses? £5 from new look and £2 ivory fabric from a mill and dresses look amazing, sample dresses are great mine was £750 new sample dress £65. Could you ask a family memeber to help you with DIY stuff instead of a gift? my mum cant afford an expensive gift so shes making my cake and flowers and stuff,

on the day all that matters is your husband and wife, our venue is just a buffet meal at 7pm and if people dont like it then they can buy their own meals and come later.

i know its hard hunny but honestly you will be able to do it. Hope you will be oki xxx

silk flowers look great! theres a few brides on here having silk and not only r u saving money but u can keep ur flowers after the wedding aswell! sample sales r always held in local hotels so check out urs and they may have one coming up. also m and s do plain iced wedding cakes for under 100 pounds and u can buy some blocks just for cutting and serving aswell. its always a good money saver to limit the number of guests u have, i have had to do this and it was hard but its saved a lot! try and get as much for ur money from the hotel as possible! and m and s also do buffet food which is really reasonable and tastes great.
above all enjoy ur day and im sure everyone else will x
