Hello ladies, was just wondering who is having a formal dance with their dad at the Reception and what songs you have chosen to dance to...
I'm not as close to my Dad as I used to be (long story) and some of the songs I've found have been very emotional and all about what a great Dad he is and without sounding like a horrible daughter those sorts of songs just arent right...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Me and my dad have decided we dont want the traditional father daughter dances which would probably make us both cry, so we were either going to do sweet child o mine or lets dance by david bowie lol

I am dancing with my dad and he chose the song - Val Doonican's The Special Years. It's a really cheesy song, but I did say that he could have his choice as to what to dance to - more fool me lol. I did find that some sites had long lists of suggestions for various dances, so I would suggest you google it and try one of the lists :)

He would like both the songs you have picked raycheroo and would happily dance with me to them but he wants to do the traditional slow dance too....he's a fan of all kinds of music from the 50s to the naughties, jazz, swing, rock, pop, disco you name it he likes it!!! he has been going on about rod steward but ive not found one appropriate! lol its so difficult!

You know chubblywubbly I thought my dad might want that one as he brought it for me years ago (when we were havin some issues) so its quite fitting, but he has now said to me My Girl, but the Otis Redding version which I like.

im having "my girl" ... whenever either me or dad hear it on the radio we call the other to listen to it together! did contemplate something from phantom of the opera (me n dad used to listen to the cd together, cant even watch the movie without my dad next to me, get too weepy!) but didnt feel as right as my girl!

me and my dad had heartland- i loved her first. i told my dad i wanted that song and he cried when he heard it. then my husband heard it and he cried.

OMG! I'm in tears reading this thread, I'm not sure I'll be able to do the dance with my dad because I'll be a blubbering wreck! we'll maybe do something up beat so that he can make me laugh with his dad dancing. I would of wanted Foo Fighters My Hero because he is my hero and an ex soldier but his health has been bad over the last few years and we almost lost him twice so I don't want a deep thinker of a tune or I'll have mascara down my face and a snotty nose. x
