    Hi,

I have decided to make my own cake.
Many of my friends have said I am crazy, but I am not that bad at making cake. Just need to practice decoarting.
I have 2 days off before the wedding, and feel that this is plenty of time to decorate cupcakes?

Anyone tried this, or planning on doing so?

Any advice, am I being crazy?!

my friend is making mine she works in a cake shop! however if your doin cupcakes all i will say (she said this about it when i wasnt sure if i wanted a cake or cup cake) was that the cup cakes have to all be the same size which can be hard work lol ... however she did say if your happy to cut the tops of the cup cakes to make them all the same size then its all good! i hope this helps? lol

what are your theme on your cake?? xx

Well that's what I am struggling with!!

I am liking the whole shabby chic theme, it's very me, all the pretty sweetie colours, and florals. The cupcakes were all going to be different, bought my cupcake stand (which is huge! ha!) and was going to do each layer a bit different to get that whole eclectic look. Not so keen on anything too unifrom!

Iam quite a whix at making the cupcakes, just slightly worried about the decorating. I am not getting married until Aug next year so have plenty of time to practice, and plenty of time to come to the relaisation that I might not be as artsy as I thought, and then I can just buy one!

Thanks for the advice, need all I can get!! ha!
Will post some pictures of my practice cakes!

    Well done you.
    Have you got a pic?

I am a bit of a synic, and think taht some cakes you could just buy a pre-iced cake and stick some pretty iced flowers to it, and put some ribbon on it, and it would look beautiful.

Does anyone know of a good place/ website I can go to buy a small fruit cake for the top of my stand?

yeah sometimes its best to go for simple but effective!! getting the balance is the hard part haha :) ... but try making a batch of 12 and do 12 different designs (but note how long each one takes to decorate) haha x

I love making cakes!!I make them for family and friends, here are a couple of pics of my latest creations for 50th birthdays, the chocolate one is so simple to make and tastes gorgeous too!! I don't think I'm confident enough to make my own though as I have never made a tiered cake but it is my mum's birthday in November and I really want to try my first tiered cake so if it works I will put pics on. As for cupcakes it is quite difficult to get them the same size and also piping can take a while to get used to, I have been piping for a while now and sometimes I still find it hard to hold the bag properly! Just keep practicing and you will improve over time at least you have got a while to do it, and I love practicing as you get to eat them afterwards!!xx

I really want to make my own cup cakes too but if I mess it up then I will forever kick myself. I know I can make the cup cakes it's the decorating that I'll struggle with. I've seen a course for cake decorating locally and I'm going to enrol to see if I'm any good. I've got 21 months before the wedding, if I'm no good within a year then I'll arrange to buy.

It doesn't say how long you've got K-Bride but I would give it a go if you are good at making cakes. If you are artistic enough I reckon you could pull it off.x

    I can't wait until 29/06/2013
The day I marry the man of my dreams!
