Oooh I have no idea myself! One of my friends is quite good at cakes though so I was thinking of asking her to help out and we could just do one main cake and loads of cupcakes to go with it!

I think the three tiers I have been looking at have been between £300 -450 depending on the amount of detail and what cake you are having (fruits often more expensive but you get more portions)

My mum is making mine as our wedding present, otherwise we we would of had to reduce number of guests just to pay for cake x

We are getting a four tier cake with fruit bottom, carrot next, then a victoria sponge and chocolate on top. Our needs are quite specifiic due to someone with a nut allergy so more costs are needed to elimnate any possiblity of nut traces so altogether it's costing £265 with free delivery and set up - very pleased with this. HAving it fairly plain and elegant with 3 clusters of roses on with diamantes on etc... Will try and upload some pics at some point. :)

What i might do is buy a plain blank costco cake so the venue can cut that up and get a m n s fruit cake so people can either have a choice of either cake but i'll decorate the m n s cake myself. Now i just need so ideas on what to put on it lol

Well i make and decorate my own xmas fruit cake (well i have done for the past 2 years and plan again for this year) and they have tasted great but im not sure if i could ice it proplerly and make it look fantastic. The decoration wouldnt be a problem once i know what i was doing but its just icing the cake where the proplem would arise lol and my sister doesnt like fruit cake so thats why i thought about just getting a cake from costco. I dont know if anyone has tasted their cakes but they are so yummy!!! and they are cheap lol

We had a very large, one tier cake, shaped like a book - complete with ribbons, flowers and bride/groom toppers (and personalised for us) for £117. We didn't want the 'traditional' tiered cake and liked the idea of something a bit different.

We had around 20 to the wedding and brought the cake home so that extended family, friends and colleagues could have some as well - and we still finished up with a lot left over.
