I'm currently trying to plan my music and I'm putting together play lists on my iPod for each stage of the ceremony. I'm thinking about when hubby and me are signing the register and don't know how many songs to allocate. I know I'll need to put more in to be safe but I have no idea how long this takes. One song? Two? Ten? Maybe some recently marrieds could help me out.xx

Cool. Also how long before the bride arrives are the guests waiting in the room we get married. I need to make a playlist for that too so how many songs will I need for them to listen to whilst they wait for me?

We were told that it could be around 10 minutes or so - so maybe you could plan 2 or 3 songs (always better to have more than less). We're planning our music at the moment as well, but we're doing different instrumental tunes so going to do enough to last 10 to 15 minutes just be on the safe side.

I was wondering the same thing myself, thanks for asking this question. xx

But there must be a general consensus as to how soon before the wedding coordinator will shoo people into the room to wait. Do they normally usher ppl in as soon as they arrive at the venue or is there some milling around outside chatting first and then inside just before the bride is ready? We're having a civil ceremony.

I reckon the guests can be seated ten mins before brides arrival!!!

We're not having playing while the guests are waiting for me to arrive. We're having music for me to walk up the aisle to, then instrumentals while we sign the register (10 to 15 minutes worth) and music for us to leave to. So altogether two tracks (entering and leaving) and instrumental music to sign to.

i think we may find some instrumentals for the signing of the registar.
Got a song for me walking into the church and for us walking out and maybe a wee cd to play while guests wait,
Just need to pick some songs!

We did a disc of 10 songs for pre-ceremony, and had it on shuffle & repeat so it didn't really matter how long it was playing for. We didn't have any music for signing the register mostly becuase we were bored of picking music by then! But I think it was recommended that we pick three songs, just in case it took longer due to people wanting to take photos. xx

There's so many different opinions on this! I guess too long is better than too short. I'll pick a few to be safe.x

We've got a cd with 4 tracks by the same band the first one was the one we wanted for the signing of the register but if we over run we love the next tracks too. xx
