Hi girlies, me and h2b don't really have a set budget but are just trying to keep things simple and cheap (but not tacky!!). I'm having a MOH, 2 bridesmaids and a flower girl and I don't know whether we should ask them to pay for their own dresses or if we should pay for them. I know my MOH would be able to afford her own but the bridemaids won't and I can't ask one to pay for her dress and not the others. What are u ladies doing? Also does anyone know where I can buy good quality dresses from????
Thanks Steph XX

We're paying for our bridesmaids dresses. I'd feel bad asking them to pay for it themselves. We've asked them to buy their own shoes though.

Hi we have brought the dresses and ive brought the kiddies little bracelets that are personalised, but they ive asked bms to buy their own shoes. Only problem of that is 2 out of the 4 bridesmaids are my children lol! xxx
My mum said the bridesmaids should pay for their own dresses, but they're all in situations where they can't really afford them other than one... We've found cheapish but nice dresses on a chinese website, so hopefully they'll be OK!
Can't wait until the 14th July 2012!

I personally could not ask my bm to pay for their dresses as I have asked them to be bm but they will buy their own shoes. It all depends on your circumstances, if I was on an incredibly tight budget I may consider asking as long as they could afford it but then I would not be able to feel like I could pick their dresses. The high street do some fab dresses and with the sales coming up there are some great bargains to be had

Thanks for your help ladies, I was thinking, depending on the price, I may ask them to pay for half and I'll pay the rest. SammyJo what website did u get ur dresses from? x

Be honest with them and tell them that you are on a tight budget, and ask if they can contribute towards the dress. Even if you only get £20 each that will go a long way towards paying for them. I am paying for mine as i want to dictate what they wear :) do not want them in unmatching dresses then end up looking hideous on the photos, although a long way from ordering them so might change my mind when it comes to paying out for them lol

I'm not having bridesmaids as such - our daughter is flowergirl (17 months old) so we're obviously paying for her dress, and I asked my sister to be MOH just as an officiality - said she wouldn't have any real duties and could wear what she wants, and she said that she wanted to fit in with the colour scheme and is more than happy to buy her own dress x

I have 6 bridesmaids and 2 flowergirls while my fiance has 6 groomsmen (2 best men, 4 ushers) and 2 paigeboys. All of which have offered to pay for their own hair and make up as im not too fussed what they have as long as they are comfortable but what they wear as in dresses, suits and shoes i am bothered about so i will be paying for those!
