Must say i am totally fuming with the 'best man'. When H2b asked him he was a good mate, spent a lot of time together etc. this was 3 years ago when we got engaged. We we decided to book wedding he asked again and the best man said he was really up for it. Well has he done anything to help h2b.....has he fck!
He hasn't helped with stag do, H2b and his dad have sorted it, including Me sorting the hotel, he said he would ring round and get money..didn't do that. Said he would tell everyone the location had changed....didn't do that. Was 2 hours late for meeting h2b for his suit fitting and is now avoiding H2B calls as he has some money that he needs to Give him.
Its a bit late to sack as suits are fitted etc. h2b has spoken to his other mate who is an Usher who has said he needs be he will step in on the day and act as the best man but can't give him the commitment right now as he is overload with work and his new house (though this was a fair thing really as he's willing to be there if h2b needs him)
H2b has just given in now with best man and has got to the point where he doesn't care any more. im gutted for him. Even i sent best man a message saying i was disappointed in him.
Just not a happy bunny right now

I know just how you feel, we booked to go away to lanzarote with some family and friends a few days after the wedding and my h2b bestman who is also his brother decided to drop out after I had already booked the villa for him (which increased price) when I ask for his deposit money which I had already paid on his behalf a month previous cos he said he was a bit short that month.

weve have trouble with our BM too, last year H2B asked his cousin to be his BM, his reply was yes of course, then we found out he was planning to move to canada befor ethe wedding but said no matter where in the world he was, he would be there for him! well in the last few months, things have changed... we find out he isnt going to canada now, good news.... but he may be getting a job in saudi, but as it was early days he wold defo be at wedding and be BM. every couple of weeks he said he still didnt know what was happening, will let you know in couple of weeks, well i wasnt convinced and said i wouldnt put it past him to say yes right upto the week before. H2B made the decsion to ask his other cousin,(who said yes straight away) when he rang the original BM to tell him his decsion, BM says... i told you to do that weeks ago! he never did! so now we have found out he will be in saudi so good job H2B made decsion. wish he had told him right from the start that there was a possibility he wouldnt be there and best to ask someone else. men hey! lol hope you get it sorted chick and he doesnt cause much more stress xx

I know how you feel hun, my husbands brother was meant to be our best man but actually dropped out 6 weeks before the wedding becuase he said the pressure on the day will be too much and he wont be able to enjoy himself! How selfish is that. Well luckily my little brother stepped up and offered to be my husbands best man (his 20) and he did an amazing job! Everyon commented on what a great job he did and his speach was brilliant. At least you H2B has this other friend to be there on the day, and Im sure it will work out better for you all. But I know how horrible it is, becuase you just feel so bad for them.

My h2bs best man has pulled out 9 weeks before the wedding. H2b is devastated and I'm really cross, h2b thinks the world of him and he can't even be bothered to take a day off from his university course to be there for him! :( It's very sad.

I remember when i married the ex the bestman dropped out the DAY BEFORE we got married and his other mate stepped in. A mate who i had never met before until I saw him standing at the isle!!! The day went perfectly and the new best man was amazing including his speech that he had written half hour before the service. I'm still in contact with me now.......he punched the ex when he told him he was cheeting on me 12 years later lol and told him he was a stupid pathetic man who never deseaved me lmao, he was then and still is married and his wife is now one of my best friends.
Just remember things go wrong, plans change BUT your day will be PERFECT no matter who does what before the day!

im kinda worrying about rys choice of best man too as they are always falling out over stupid things!! they make up again eventually but i worry that if ry gets stressed or something and they fall out just before the wedding then he might not have a best man! although matt is cool so maybe it wont happen! hmmm

i know how u feel hun, h2b was very close to his friend whos being best man, but they havent spoken since h2b asked him. i really wihs h2b would find some new friends in bristol where we live and pick someone else. as his friends are a bunch of a**holes and a waste of speace

HTB's best man hasn't had much to do so far so I'm hoping he'll get things sorted. He did however send me a sarcastic text asking permission for HTB to stay out drinking longer when he'd been supposed to be back hours earlier and I'd had a bit of a strop (he's only done it the once, he's v well behaved the rest of the time! :) So I reminded him of what happened to another one of their friends.. He'd been best man, had organised stag do, with strict istructions from the bride to be that it wasn't to involve strip clubs. When she found out they'd been to a strip club she removed him as best man and banned him from the wedding! Remember it's your day, do what you feel is right, suits fitted or not! xx

Cheers all, i've sent him an email last night and made it so i could check when it was opened, which it has now been. Told him that not sure if h2b has upset him or something but he really do need to make contact. He still hasn't. I think its all due to money or he doesn't want to do it anymore but he needs to let us know. I have told h2b that if he doesn't turn up to stag do a week on Sat then he can forget the wedding and stay out of our lives!

Sounds like you did the best thing there. H2Bs best man I really like however what worries me is his very very very dark sense of humor haha. Don't get me wrong. I have a bit of a 'sick puppy' sense of humor myself but he has NO limits. Thinking of making sure he speaks at the night do only haha X

Yep h2b has had to organise all things like gathering ushers for fittings, stag night etc. Similarly - My MOH has been a complete let down - organised my own hen night for next week and has only jusy decided he is attending. My bm has done far more than he has! Too late to swap but upgraded bm to be a third witness in signing the register. x

cheers all, he has read the message and Kev tried to ring him again and text but still no reply. think he owes about 100quid to Kev.
He is really thinking about firing him and using usher all together but telling him he doesn't need to sort out anything with stag or arrange anything as he is so busy just turn up on day and be by his side. He does't want to put pressure on him. I hope he does sack him don't want him to leave it to last minute to ask usher

A similar thing happened at a wedding/stag do that I attended once.
All the best man was interested in was the stag do- and to add fuel to the fire, his best man speech was all about "how good the stag was" Suffice it to say, the bride was almost in tears-livid! He just wasn't interested in the wedding itself, or anything else for that matter-! makes me mad thinking about it.
So yep-agree with the others-Get H@B to sack him. that will be the knee-jerk reaction he needs and it will prove he probably isnt interested in your day:-(

h2b best man isn't even bothered about the stag do! he hasn't helped at all with it. h2b text his other mate last night (he was out so couldn't answer his phone) saying he wants him to step up as best man from usher. He explained it wasn't fair to dump it on him on the day and wants to ask him now. Its really stressing us out. just waiting for him to reply. I hope he says yes
