Bit of late night online shopping.
However i have just ordered a selection of great ormond street and cancer research accessories. We have pin badges, trolley tokens, pens, and wrist bands from our 2 charities of choice. As we are having a buffet we have decided that rather than place them on dinner tables they will be on display on a table in the entrance way along with a sign saying something along the lines of :

A donation has been made to Cancer Research UK and Great Ormond Street Hospital in loving memory of Christine Harvey (my mum) and Terry Cornwall (H2b Uncle). Please help yourself to a small token to remember those we love on this our special day.

Or words to that effect. We will be matching the sign to our invites / thankyou cards etc so it all matches and basically will have the bits on the table for people to help themselves to.

How does this idea seem to you? Bit worried that certain family members will moan about it not being traditional, but we are both happy with the idea.

i love this idea!! its fantastic and it also allows your family who cant be there in person to be apart of your special day, if people moan tell them to do it quietly so they dont ruin your special day :) x

    aww.sorry for your losses :(
I think the charity favours are a lovely idea, and very worthwhile too! having them on a display table is also a good way, will you have photographs of your Mum, and H2B's uncle too? I wouldn't worry about other family members...you are doing what you want..and feel right doing. It's your day xxx

Cheers everyone, i told my dad today what we had planned and he thinks its a lovely idea. I explained that as we werent having a formal sit down dinner with a seating plan or anything we were going with the informal buffet we didnt want to have to put favours out on the tables where they may get overlooked etc.... so the idea of having them on the table seemed just right and luckily dad agreed so now its just letting the inlaws know what we are planning.
