My little girl is 5 and is from a previous relationship. She looks up to my otherhalf as a Dad so the wedding will be a very special day for all 3 of us. This morning she told us how excited she was about "Our Wedding" so I would really like to include her in the service.
Is anyone else doing this and if so how? xx

My two daughters from my first marriage were my bridesmaids and my son gave me away, so they were all very much involved! You could have your little girl as a bridesmaid or flower girl and include her in the speeches so she feels special x

I have two daughters from a previous marriage and will be including them in everything including the service!
I have worded our invites so they come from the girls and our thank you's will be from our son. They are my bridesmaids with the oldest helping me pick and deside different things and we are doing a "rose ceremony" during the service. And we have included some special vows that will also include them and then my other half will give them a necklace after he puts the ring on my finger to unite our family as one! (it's one especially for this so if anyone wants the link let me know)
I also have my son as pageboy as well as his nephew. His other nephew will be an usher and 3 of my nieces are bm's and the other is a fg. :-)

My son will be nine years old. he's asked if he can carry the rings down the aisle and I was thinking of getting him to say something. maybe in the run up to the wedding might help him write a little poem and read that as he said he wanted to say something too
CommentAuthorGuessWho
Wow some great ideas. She is already a bridesmaid with a similar look dress to mine as is my 2 year old niece but I wanted something a little more important. I think asking her to carry the rings is good and would love the adapted rose ceromony link please. Hails can I also have the necklace link too.
Thanks for your great ideas everyone xx

Hi Toria the link for the rose ceremony thread is
***********************************
The Long Rose Ceremony. In the Rose Ceremony, the Bride’s give each other a Rose. Two roses are all that is necessary. The Rose Ceremony is placed at the end of the ceremony just before being pronounced as a Married couple. It goes like this:
A single red rose always means "I love you". Your gift to each other for your wedding today has been your wedding rings - which shall always be an outward demonstration of your vows of love and respect; and a public showing of your commitment to each other. Now for your first gift as a Married couple I want you now to give each other the rose you hold.
(Exchange Roses)
Kim and Sophie, I would ask that where ever you make your home in the future - whether it be a large and elegant home - or a small and graceful one - that you both pick one very special location in your home for roses; so that on each anniversary of this truly wonderful occasion of your marriage, you both may take a rose to that special spot in your home, both as a recommitment to your marriage - and a recommitment that THIS will be a marriage based upon love.
And try to remember this: In every marriage there are times where it is difficult to find the right words. It might be difficult some time to say "I am sorry" or "I forgive you"; "I need you" or "I am hurting". If this should happen, if you simply can not find these words to express what you really feel, Go to that spot that you both have selected and there leave a rose. That rose placed in that special location can say what matters most of all. The rose you place there will say the words: "I still love you." The other should accept this rose for the words which can not be found, and remember the love and hope that you both share today.
Kim and Sophie, if there is anything you remember of this marriage ceremony, remember this, it was love that brought you here today, it is only love which can make it a glorious union, and it is by love which your marriage shall endure.
Adding a part for children.
If a couple is adding the "Rose Ceremony", often they will have a rose for each of the children.
After exchanging roses, the couple will then give each child a rose, a hug, and whisper, "I love you." "Not only are Kim and Sophie creating a marriage today, but they also are forming a family with Leo. Just as it is appropriate for Kim and Sophie to declare their love for each other in the gift of a rose, they also wish to show you Leo how much they love you with the gift of a rose."
It brings a tear to my eyes everytime I read it, I just cant wait to say these words

Toria - a sand ceremony is where the 3 of you (or however many of you there are) all have a jar of different coloured sand which you pour into 1 vase - it represents togetherness, and is a pretty keepsake! x
