i have just put on fb that we are doing the table plan tonight and within mins h2b sister has said I hope me and my sisters will be together !!!!!! so i put Think we are going to split families up so they can get to know each other and she replied Not sure about that one !!!!!! Anyway yr choice !
i think it is so rude. why cant people just sit where i tell them to!!

I agree it is up to you where you put them and if they can't manage to sit next to someone new for a couple of hours over dinner its a sad affair. I think its a great idea to mix people up so they can talk to someone new. After all its all about two families coming together.

Eugh, another example of how rude wedding guests seem to be!!! At a wedding I went to lately, people were moving the seating plan around before the ceremony had even began.... how rude!!!!!!

I'm finding out that people can be so rude and demanding for an event that they've been lucky enough to be invited to! I'm planning on listening to what they've all got to say, replying with something like 'i'll see what I can do' and then going ahead with my plans anyway. They will just have to lump it. Your day is for you and h2b and whatever you decide and stuff everyone else. After listening to suggestions and support on here I'm learning to be ruthless lol x

ok, never mind. its so stupid! i just dont want my family and his family not to talk and get to know each other otherwise it will always be awkward like it was at my brothers wedding! before the wedding we had never met his wife's family and werent sat together and so we never spoke and when we see each other now all it is is hi and bye and i dont want that! xx

We were going to do pick 6 names out of a hat and that is were they sat but with the kids aswell it just didnt work

We mixed up everyone on each table so that the 2 families got to know each other and also friends got to know our other friends. It was a pretty good success, the first 5 tables were hosted by each of my brothers or sisters with family members from Pauls side sat with them and also friends. Then we did the other tables with friends and other friends who didnt know each other and also some who did and finally had a table of the neices and nephews that were around the same age with their partners which worked really well as they were delighted. I think it is really good to mix up the tables as part of a wedding is to meet and greet and get to know new people as well as catching up with ones you know. I have made many a friend or 2 at weddings I have been invited too due to this.
So I would say sod her Terri and tell her that that is how you and h2b are doing the table plan and it wont be changed. I can always add my bit to your fb status if you wish lol. xx

people havent said anything to me, except sally n kenny asking not to sit next to their brother and sister in law, as they have fallen out for several years- but that was ok as i never had them next to each other in the first place. My tables are all 8-10 people at them, so i am planning to have 2 sets of 4 people at a table who know each, so every one has a couple they know, and 2 couples they dont know at the same table - so far thats went down ok. what is it with people? I love going places and meeting new people. We had a complete hoot at my friends wedding last year and didnt know anyone on our table but we all got on really well. If they want a family reunion they should arrange on. Weddings are about famillies and friends coming together and if they cant sit where they are told for 2 hours shame on them!!!

Same here Jilly, at the SIL2B's wedding, there were people I didnt know and the firstthing I did was introduce myself. We had a scream! Fantastic. We are meeting up and going for a meal in a few weeks.

We are having 4 tables and the sweetheart top table where my H2B and My son and his son will sit. The other 4 tables are 2 tables of 10 and 2 tables of 6. One of the tables of 10 is my aunties and uncles 1 is my mum and dad ,sister bro in law and nephew Jonas mum and step day Jonas dad his bro and his girlfriend. My sister got really ar sey about it though and said she didnt want people she didnt know sitting at her table then my Mum joined in. I said this is how it is and Im not budging. The other 2 tables of 6 are our friends mine on one and Jonas's on another they dont know each other but mine have akk been friends for years and I know they would be upset if I sat them with strangers. This has caused me loads of headaches but it really shouldnt have.

Look hun just remember its YOUR WEDDING ive put the big families on one table than the smaller families ive have mixed them its only gonna be for a couple of hours if they dont like it then its tough. As for your h2b he should be a bit more understanding not having a go at you. They have got to realise that they have all night to spend with other family members just do it your way. Good luck xxx

We were going to let ppl sit where they wanted but decided to have a choice for the menu, which i will need to know BEFORE the day. So ill need a plan so the hotel knows where everyone is sitting so they get the right thing.

MIL2B asked me about our seating plan, I told her a. there's over 5 months to go and b. there's going to be 20 of us. I will sit next to Kieran and if the rest of you can't sit yourselves around a table, you probably shouldn't be allowed out by yourselves! She was not amused and muttered something about having to do it properly
As for your SIL's. ***k 'em! Maybe they need to be reminded that they are grown ups and not little children who don't want to sit next to the scary people that they don't know *sarcasm does travel well in text form but read that in a patronising voice and you've go it*
Maybe you could punish them by putting them on a table right at the back where they can't see or hear anything with whichever relative is guaranteed to get drunk and swear at everyone (there's always at least one)
