As me and h2b already live together and don't really need the tradition of household items for as gifts ...
Were going to ask for money instead .. Any ideas on a nice way to ask? xx
CommentAuthoremz382
ohhh I was having this problem too. We are asking for holiday vouchers for our honeymoon, not sure on how to ask though!! I think one idea is in a poem, if you google it there are a few poems on there you can use x
CommentAuthorMrsL2Be
Thanks hun :) Might just use a poem as it might word it more politely xx
CommentAuthorSteffie
There's lots of lovely poems to use!
We're going to have a honeymoon fund where money can be paid on to our holiday/travel agent card! x
CommentAuthorMaggielou
Lots of ppl use poems but it takes lots of space, we're trying to work on something shorter. I want a redecorating fund :)
i put in this poem:We really hope you can join us On our special day You'll make our memories complete In every single way We do not have a gift list And we know you'll understand Our house and contents are complete With pots, plates and pans But should you really want to give And celebrate this way A gift of money would be lovely For a rainy day

Thats lovely hun :) xx

I'm worried about this too, there are some really nice poems around, and lovely worded stuff but it doesn't seem to matter how polite it sounds I just can't bring myself to do it, I just feel like a brat! Mine and my boyfriends parents keep saying we should give some indictation but I just don't want to mention it! If people want to know I'll assume they'll ask - and if they ask then I won't feel quite as bad telling them! Oh the thought gives me a belly ache! x

Im goi ng to put this on an insert of my invites......
We lived together before this wedding So we have a home, full of toasters and bedding So what to get for the bride & groom Whose house is set up in every room? To save you looking, shopping and buying, Here's an idea you might like trying! We need new mattresses for us and the kids and a sofa to sit upon too, But registering for huge items isn't the thing to do So please put some money into a card, Now make a wish.... see, that wasn't hard! Now we've saved you all the fuss, We hope you'll come and celebrate with us! A wishing well will be at the reception hall To deposit your wishes... Thanks and love to you
But there are loads of poems to choose from like these........
"We already have a lovely fully furnished home but would like to buy 'big' things like a new sofa and beds So... we would welcome a monetary contribution to put towards the things we need to make our house a nice and cosy, married home. However, if you prefer to purchase a gift, Feel free to surprise us in your own way.
OR
Unsure in our minds, of what we may need, Not wanting to offend, or show any greed, We have the essentials to be living in sin, A kettle, a toaster, and even a bin. So , high street vouchers are requested, in order to proceed, With the purchases that we will eventually need.

We had some little cards printed with a poem asking for a small contribution to our honeymoon, we put these in the invites and we have matching thank you cards in poems too :D
CommentAuthormym72
We put this on a card and sent it with the invites etc:
We've been together for a few years now and have a lovely home. There are not too many items that we don't already own. So please don't be offended and please don't think we're brash If your thoughts were on a present we'd much prefer the cash. The choice is really up to you and we would like to say We hope you come and enjoy yourselves On this our special day
but instead of 'the cash' we put 'Thomas Cook vouchers or cash'. In fact I think we got this poem from UKB originally lol.
CommentAuthorMrsL2Be
I like that :) SO many to choose from lol xx
CommentAuthorMrs fairytale
we put a poem in ours and here it is
When thinking of a gift for us we ask if you'd please consider, contributing to our honeymoon to make it all that sweeter. our house is full of all the things a couple could require, and so a holiday away is what we most desire. then while we're relaxing on the beach or by the pool so blue, we'll sit back and know that it is truly thanks to you.
cant wait to renew my vows, love my hubby sssssooooo much xx

We are planning to set up a giftlist, but a small one, which can be combined with honeymoon vouchers. We won't be going on a honeymoon unless we get some help! My mum is against this idea, so we thought if we have a few things on a list then the more traditional guests can buy us a gift, people who understand we can't afford a honeymoon without them (due to us paying for a large chunk of the wedding) will hopefully contribute.

Hmm I could start a honeymoon fund then but in all honesty it'll have to include the kids lol I wouldn't leave them for the week..

I've just ordered some lovely cards to go inside the invites from the good old bay of e! it goes like this:
The most important gift to us is to have you share our day but should you wish to contribute in some other way, the to help us on our honeymoon to our chosen paradise, a little extra spending money would be really nice.
We liked it, even though we're actually after money to help us pay for it, rather than spending money xx
CommentAuthorlollilou
We're going to put in a mini poem asking for money towards our honeymoon in both our day and evening invites. I'm not leaving my kids behind either, think the're more excited about the holiday than the wedding lol.
CommentAuthorMrsL2Be
I didn't think of looking on then .. Thanks Sara will look on their :)
Lol Lollilou if we can afford it we wana take the kids to disneyland for a few days :) xx

Some are better than others, I picked the shortest one as I found the others a bit wordy. I'll put the seller's details on your wall, they're really good. They're even going to change the picture on mine to make it match my invitation designs :o)
