my mum and dad thought the same as yours as they never had them at their wedding. i was going to have them as my h2b thought they were the tradition but i couldnt be 4rsed with them so instead we have opted for lottery tickets. im making them and having loads of fun! x

    You could try Milly :)

I think that they're a relatively new thing. I'm not having them myself, but if I did I'd be focusing on ones that made the table look pretty :)

I think they come under the 'nice to haves' rather than essentials and most people won't even realise you haven't got them!!! And the ones who do will forget a couple of minutes later.

Unless they are dedicated wedding nuts!!

I'm making chocolates and putting them in organza bags, really cheap! Also we've decided to get the Cancer Research pin favours as many of the people who won't be there at our wedding have died of cancer so we feel its a worthwhile thing to spend money on - but you shouldnt have to have them if you dont want to xxx

I think people will automatically look for them. Yes they are not necessary and as said b4 they will then forget, but people DO look for them! I do. (not in a selfish way) I've only been to weddings with favours. I wouldn't dare comment tho and if someone did I would give them a mouthful!!!

I dont think they are expected at all .... or missed if they are not there.
I have been to and planned loads of weddings where favours have been left behind as you cant please all the people all the time! I personally like the idea of donating to charity ...everyone feels good and no waste!

We're not having them. To be honest I've never been to a wedding where they've had them. I don't think people should expect them - after all you've invited them to share your day and paid for their food, and in some cases, drink. Why give them anything else. The only people we will be buying a gift for is the best man and bridesmaid.

I've been a bit undecided on them too, as I'm not having a sit down meal so it's not as if they can be designated! Lol... are they just an additional cost that I could do without?

I'm dead against them ... my mum said that they would be expected ... so my sister (bless her) stepped in to stop a major argument and said that she would arrange to have something made in South Africa where she lives as our wedding present and they would be cheaper than getting something here.
