Hi Everyone, Just wondering what everybody is doing for the entertainment throughout the day and the night?
I was thinking of having a pianist (been quoted £295, thought seemed a little expensive but nothing to compare to) for the ceremony and meal, and then a DJ for the evening. Would really like a band but just dont know how to go about finding one.
What is everyone doing to keep their guests entertained??
    Thankyou!! xx

we are just having the disco set up all day, with our own ipods playing through out the day with our own music. then bring on the disco in the evening. Thinking of playing some games during the bit between the day and evening, think i will base them on myself !!!!! who knows me best etc

I have (hopefully) found a band to play for our reception, but I found them as one of the members is a friend of a friend. Just waiting to get some recordings so h2b can approve the choice! I know they'll be good though :) they also offered to play at the service for free, or I may ask cousin's husband who is a brass player to do something.

Before I found the band though and was looking for DJs, I just googled them and was trawling through various websites and emailed quite a few for quotes. If you search for them, there are lots of specialist websites that can help. I think live acts are the best for atmosphere, and if you find one, ask for recordings of them playing or if they have a gig you can go watch to judge if they're what you're after or not! They will usually work around you, and if there's a song you want that they don't play they will work it out for you.

That's as far as I've got so far.... try asking your venue to. Mine has a resident DJ they use for their functions, and they offered to book them on my behalf, so it's worth trying that one too!

    Hope that helps :)

We're setting up a playlist, getting jukebox software and taking one of our laptops! We shall have what WE like hehe but people will be able to choose from all the stuff WE like hehe. We are playing every couples special/first dance song though, or at least they will be available to play :) x

Out of interest, how many hours would your pianist be working for? (just to try and work out if that's expensive or not!)

That seems a bit much to me for a pianist... even at £30 an hour it would only be around £150. I know there is travel on top, but just seems a bit much to me! I'll do it for you! hehe. I'm just not sure I'm good enough to play for five hours, or have enough music to last that long lol. I reckon you could find someone who is cheaper though. It would be worth trying to find a university student - they would be just as good and cost a lot less!

we are having the dj starting at 7 with our first dance about 8. then the band...which is actaully my dads start abou 9-10.30 and then dj until the bar closes at 1am.

We are actaully debating whether to have the band still as the girl in the band wants to charge £100 for an hour and half work which i think is steep xx
