Well I'm posting because I wanted to share that I am now officially excited. We had a wonderful engagement party and we saw the venue dressed today. They are so excited about our handfasting ceremony a local paper wants to do an article on it. Blown away! Not literally though thankfully despite the high winds today. I'm going to add photos to my profile if I can work out how! x

Congratulations! Happy to see another handfasting on the forums- are you getting a High Priestess/High Priest in to do it?

    Re: handfasting.

The ceremony for us will be conducted by a friend but would normally be by a priest or priestess, it is a pre Christian tradition mainly upheld in Celtic areas but is known as far as Poland. It can be a temporary partnership which can be renewed every 18 months but is also a marriage in what we think of a traditional sense and the end line is "and may you be blessed for as long as your love will last" as opposed to "Until death do you part" implying, I feel, that love can be eternal. The 18 months part may even be a bit of a wives tale planted by a certain Christian fellow but I'm not into conspiracies! We feel that it is more genuine to the people we are to make this commitment to all Gods and Goddesses, nature and the elements rather than to a specific religion. To us our way of life is our own religion, we believe in being good to one another and others, appreciating what we have and trying to have as much love and happiness as possible :) x

Just looked through all your pics, and have come to the conclusion that your venue is absolutely beautiful and no wonder you are excited! Even though I will be married in a couple of months I will have to come back on to have a look at your pics after your day, lol. x
