    Hi Ladies,
Me & my partner are getting married on the 30th of june 2012. We have looked at many venues and hotels but many are overpriced or not as nice as the website photographs make them out to be. We have got as far as booking the church, ordering table decorations and shopping for wedding dresses. To help cut costs we have cut our guest list to 50 and only having immediate family to the day. Do you lovely ladies have any more money saving tips or ideas to help me on my way? They would be much appreciated.
    Hannah

Hi Hannah. Have a go at making your own flowers and favours -if you want them, (lots of ladies on here have done it), think about having a buffet instead of a sit-down meal too, that will save you lots of money! The bay of e is excellent for finding accessories and things, I've just ordered my hair comb from there for a really good price, make your own invitations...the list is endless :o) Good luck xx

    Its not closed?
I would recommend bay of e obviously. Dont be scared to order dresses from there. My bridemaids and wedding dress and tiara all came from the bay at bargain prices and are exactly as expected, just check feedback first.
You could order a bulk of artificial flowers, wooden roses are low cost and pretty, and practise making your own table decs etc, thats what i did... i als ordered artificial calla lilies from bay and made my bridemaids bouquets and flower girl wand.
I searched party websites as opposed to specifically wedding sites and got some great bargains for table ware, cloths runners etc....

Our main saving is our reception venue. It's just a village hall with a separate bar costing £90 for all day and night. Its not too plain so doesn't need too much decorating but there are some naff things that need covering. It was perfect for us as we have a nature theme and it opens out onto a gorgeous field with loads of trees (great for photos).
I guess it depends on what style of wedding you want on where you can make savings. Obviously someone wanting a glamorous princess wedding would probably steer clear on my sort of venue and may want a castle, nice hotel or manor house, but that wouldn't suit me. We are also thinking of doing are own catering but still looking at how much money it will actually save and if it's worth the effort.
Think about the really big things you can save on first like venues, catering, dress, rings, photographer, attendants outfits then go from there. DIY bits always make a wedding more personal and save a lot of money so consider making your stationary, centrepieces and favours.

We also have a village hall and are making our own buffet food, the money we have saved has allowed us to spend out on hog roast and chocolate fountain.
