Hi ladies I wont bore you with all the details, but basically I had a very traumatic labour/delivery with my 15 month old daughter, and lots of things went wrong, leading to my poor H2B almost losing both of us. Because of everything that happened, we're not sure if we can have any more children (I'm seeing specialists at the hospital who are looking into it). I ended up having an emergency caesarean, but the safest option if I can have more kids would be a natural birth (unfortunately this can't be guaranteed!) So, I'm appraching it one step at a time, and wanted to hear some VBAC stories to give me some hope! Thank you! x

I'm sorry I haven't been through anything like this but my niece was told something along the same lines and she has had two more kids since and all has gone well. The doctors tell you the worst that can happen and yes there is still a rish it could happen but sometimes you just have to weight it all up and work out what is going to be best for you. Don't give you hope as they don't always get things right. x x

I once heard that your body gets better each time you have a baby... just because something went wrong once doesn't mean it will definitely happen again! Good on you for not being discouraged, best of luck for any baby-making adventures and hope the doctors give you the news you want!

I was offered a VBAC for my last baby and opted for a section again, however i went into labour the same day i was due to have the section, so decided to try VBAC, however after several hours of contractions i was not dilating and baby went into distress just like the first time so ended up having to have the section........the choice is yours and you have to speak to your consultant and H2B and decide what is best for you and your family.....good luck
and now the next chapter

Thanks ladies, I think the most important thing for me is to stay positive! Looking forward to getting my appointment through so I can start planning for the future! xxx

I had one of these. My oldest was born by section and then i went onto deliver my daughter naturally. Unfortunatly my 3rd child was breech so this ment i had to have an elective section and again with my 4th that was an elective section due to having 2 previous sections. But as for a natural birth after a section all went well. xx

Hi,
I had a VBAC with my second after a very traumatic delivery resulting in EMCS with my first. I was terrified at first at the thought of going through everything again and ending up with a CS but i really wanted to deliver naturally as i felt a bit of a failiure after my CS (I know i wasnt but i couldnt help feeling that way). After alot of thought, tears and talks with H2B and the consultant i decided to go for a VBAC. They promised me that they wouldnt keep me going as long as with my first and i would be in control and be able to 'call it a day' and opt for a CS at ant time (within reason). I sucessfully had a VBAC and it was the most rewarding experience of my life. I was so proud that i managed it this time and the recovery period was much much quicker. I would recommend it to anyone, it makes me feel all soppy just thinking about it now.

Well done you! It does make you feel like a failure doesn't it! One of the problems I had was that the epidural didn't take so I needed a general anaesthetic, which I had a really bad reaction to and my body went into shock - I needed steroids to try to get my breathing under control (this was not the biggest thing that went wrong believe it or not lol!) So I'm not really sure how they'd go about giving me another section as I'm not sure what other options there are for pain relief! I'd love to experience a natural birth x

I'm sorry you had such a horrendous time :( During my second delivery they wanted to monitor the baby at all times but i refused to lay on the bed for fear of my labour slowing etc, at first i stood with the monitor on my bump and rocked my hips etc, i had gas and air and pethidine, when i was moved to the delivery suite i had remmie fentinol (no idea how to spell it so its spelled how it sounds) The anethsatist had to give me that, it was basically a drip in my hand, i had a button trigger which gave me the drug when i needed it, then 'disabled' the button for 2 minutes and so on. It was great because i was in control of it. it was the middle of the night when i had it and as soon as i pressed the button i would fall asleep until the next contraction came :D.....i had gas and air all through too though a few times i tried to press the gas and air and put the button in my mouth (h2b thought it was hilarious)
From hearing your story perhaps going for a VBAC may be the safer option if you dont react well to the anesthetic? I really hope all goes well for you and you get the delivery you want. Good Luck!

I haven't got VBAC experience but i did have a 38 hour labour ending with an emergency c-section with my little boy and im hoping to do VBAC when i get pregnant again. I have the same worries, i felt a failure and want to do it so badly, my doctor said to me that because it wasn't my bodies fault then a VBAC is safe and very likely.
Theres so much info about hun and i would definitely join net mums xx

Thanks girlies - VBAC's definitely the best option for me, I'm looking forward to seeing what the specialist says - may not even get that far! x
